Contest of the Week – L’Oreal Paris Foundation

A cruel irony is that as you get older, foundation can actually make your skin look worse by settling in wrinkles and making them more pronounced. This week, we are giving away L’Oreal Paris Visible Lift Smooth Absolute Instant Age Reverse Foundation (in Buff Beige), which plumps up skin so you don’t have to worry about your makeup ageing you. It also includes a brush so you can fill in lines and wrinkles. To enter to win, just comment below with your best foundation tip.

Here’s ours: Don’t throw away foundation that’s too light or too dark for your skin. Instead, keep them on hand for contouring (see Kim Kardashian’s example).

One winner will be chosen by 9/12/2012 and notified by email 9/19/2012. U.S. residents only. Odds of winning are 1 out of number of comments on this blog post.

To assure foundation goes on evenly I prefer to apply it with my clean fingertips this allows me to blend better and not have streaks like brushes and sponges sometimes do.

  2. Melissa Callihan Honeycutt says:

Less is More–LOL… (our moms were right ladies)

  3. colleen boudreau says:

    blend well!

  4. Phoenix says:

Wash your face thoroughly before applying! (With soap & water, possibly followed by a cleaner.)

  5. Marianne P. says:

    Mix several colors.

  6. maraina b says:

I apply a primer to help foundation stay in place!!

Please forgive me if my comment posts more than once, please delete the additional comments. I’m having terrible problems with my computer right now and it keeps telling me that it didn’t post.

Before I apply foundation, I use a darker shade of powder and a small powder brush to cover blemishes, sun damage and acne scars. Then, I apply the foundation and a lighter shade of powder over the top. If blended well, it should look more natural.

I was watching something like this on Dr. Oz tonight. They mentioned the fact that foundation tends to seep seep into wrinkles.

  8. Fran says:

I put on a dab moisturizer on my face before i apply foundation, this allows the foundation to blend more easily. It also makes your skin feel not so “cakey”.

Now that I am older and a candidate for the L’Oreal Paris Visible Lift foundation, I find using a small make up spong wedge gives me a smoother better look than fingers alone. Be careful with powders when you are older. Powder really accentuates wrinkles!

  10. Mary W says:

Typo!!! It should read sponge with an E!!

  11. Susan P. says:

I read a tip a little while ago and have used it ever since – mix 2 different foundations. I like one with SPF and moisturizer that may be too transparent by itself and mix it with a L’oreal foundation. I like your tip of keeping the ones that aren’t the right color for contouring.

  12. Jennifer P says:

My tip..Don’t forget to feather down your jaw line and onto your neck.

  13. admin says:

We’re definitely a fan of mixing foundations. My latest combination has been L’Oreal True Match Roller Foundation and Revlon ColorStay Whipped.

  14. I like to use a small brush with just a dab of foundation mixed lightly with moisturizer to blend in my skin. I have older skin so lighter formulas look best. L’Oreal has always been a favorite brand.

  15. SimplyDavia says:

Best Tip for foundation is to make sure that you blend that foundation both into your hair line and down past the chin using a sponge or a brush. There is nothing hot about a gal with the appearance of wearing a mask! Don’t forget to wear moisturizer underneath as well

  16. Mary says:

My best foundation tip? Apply with a damp sponge or wedge, and always prime your oiliest areas/the areas with the most visible pores.

I feel it is important to blend more and not apply too much so you do not go out into public looking like you are wearing too much foundation.
