eraseOne of our favorite at home coloring kits is Garnier Nutrisse, the moisturizing oils make all the difference in the world! This week, we are giving away Garnier Nutrisse Nourishing Color Foam in 5 Medium Brown. To enter to win, just comment below with your best hair color tip!

Here’s ours: If you have an oil based beauty product that didn’t work out, don’t throw it away! Use it to protect your hairline from hair dye, and also use it to remove it from your skin.

One winner will be chosen by 5/15/2013 and notified by email 5/22/2013. U.S. residents only. Odds of winning are 1 out of the number of comments on this blog post.

Be sure to put lots and lots of old towels down and around when coloring at home. That dye can get everywhere even when you are careful!

this stuff is the best – color lasts and its easy to use – Mary W is right – you do need to put towels down with other products – this one stays put. my tip – make sure you where something old when you color your hair – dye doesn’t come off clothing – I have an old tshirt I wear for this purpose.

  3. Cindy G says:

I have very stubborn grays and very absorbent ends so I always leave my gray roots covered for the majority of the time and apply color to the ends for the last 10-15 minutes. This provides even coverage – otherwise my ends are darker than my roots.

  4. Tiffany Johnson says:

Rinse with cool water, not hot water. Heated water tends to stip the hair color.

  5. Susan P. says:

Use the foam type hair color for no drips and no mess.

  6. admin says:

You’re absolutely right, it always seems to end up somewhere

  7. Amie says:

Put your curious cat somewhere where she can’t keep trying to stick her nose into all the stuff sitting on the counter while you color your hair! Lol, mine kept making me spill huge globs onto the floor because I kept having to shoo her out of the bathroom because I was afraid she’d get some on her and lick it off and get sick. It wouldn’t have been such a huge mess if I’d have kept her somewhere else temporarily!

  8. Amy Orvin says:

My best color tip is to use petroleum jelly around the edges of your face to keep the dye from dying or staining your face before coloring.

  9. Jacqueline P. says:

My best hair color tip, especially if your doing it yourself is to make sure you break your hair into different sections so you can be sure that your not missing any area’s of your hair. Another is to definitely ware a shirt that you don’t really care about because chance are your going to get hair dye on it! ;)

Definitely using vaseline around the hair line, ears and neck. This well help protect your skin from being dyed.
