Crème of Nature Argan Oil Replenishing Sheen Spray
June 20th, 2011
Since
we liked the Crème of Nature Argan Oil Foaming Wrap Lotion we also tried more products in the Crème of N
ature Argan Oil line. When you think of oil sheen you usually think of a very heavy, greasy product. However, the Replenishing Sheen Spray is unique because it doesn’t weigh the hair down as much as we expected. It gives serious moisture but the formula is absorbed in your hair within about ten minutes, so you don’t get a greasy look. The Replenishing Sheen Spray is also great for dry scalp. You can just spray your scalp evenly after washing your hair to keep it from getting too dry. If you have fine hair or want to address frizz, you may want to try their Gloss & Shine Mist instead. For hair that’s in pretty good shape and not too dry, we suggest just using either product on the ends only since they tend to get pretty abused with heat styling!

Dr. Lewinn Under Eye Recovery
June 16th, 2011
It’s a sure sign that everyone is getting serious about skincare given the popularity of cosmeceuticals – combinations of cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. These products have biologically active ingredients that are said to have medical or drug-like benefits. Cosmeceuticals are not only available at department stores or physicians’ offices. For example, the Dr. Lewinn by Kinerase line is available at Walgreens, Duane Reade, and Wal-Mart. We started out by trying Dr. Lewinn’s Under Eye Recovery. This is a treatment that addresses every eye concern. Not only does it claim to visibly depuff and lighten in 14 days, it also smoothes wrinkles. What we liked the most about this product was that for all its claims, it’s still not greasy. A great eye treatment is no good if you can’t wear makeup on top of it. This quickly absorbed in our skin and didn’t interfere with our eyeshadow. While we noticed a decrease in puffiness and smoother skin around our eyes, we thought that Under Eye Recovery was the most impressive with brightening dark circles. If you want to receive coupons for Dr. Lewinn’s products you can go to http://www.drlewinnbykinerase.com/special.php to sign up to receive them by email.

Kiss Everlasting French Better than Salon Nails
June 13th, 2011
While press on nails are never going to stick to nails the way acrylics do, Kiss has certainly come close. We tried their Everlasting French Better Than Salon nail kit and were really impressed by the quality. It really looked like a salon job, replete with fun designs on each nail. This product claims to last for seven days and we got 8 days of wear with only one nail coming off. Fortunately, they give 28 nails in each kit so we easily replaced the nail. This is a great product for special occasions. Going to the salon to get fills for acrylic nails on a consistent basis can get expensive and time consuming. Just putting on the Kiss nails seems more practical. The downside is if you keep the nails on for longer than 7 days they don’t look as great as when you first apply them. 8 Comments »Bobbi Brown
June 7th, 2011
Bobbi Brown started out as a makeup artist in the late ‘80s with a background in theater makeup. She wanted makeup that didn’t look like makeup, and enhanced rather than transformed. Brown couldn’t seem to find any makeup shades that looked natural on a wide range of complexions.
Beginning with 9 variations of one pinkish brown lipstick, she launched her ten lipsticks at Bergdorf Goodman as Bobbi Brown Essentials in 1991. Her sales goal was to sell 100 in the first month and she sold 100 the first day. These universally flattering lipsticks stood apart from the other cosmetics at the time. In 1992 she introduced yet another unique product, yellow toned foundation sticks. In 1995 Brown added skincare to her line, and also sold her company to Estee Lauder with the condition that she retained creative control.
Bobbi Brown is currently still a makeup artist, and is also the C
EO of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, Beauty Editor of NBC’s Today Show, and a best-selling author of several books. Her products are retailed in more than 850 stores and 50 countries internationally. Bobbi Brown’s goal is to encourage self-acceptance, not chase trends. Her look therefore emphasizes neutrals and easy application. “Beauty isn’t about looking perfect, it’s about celebrating your individuality” – Bobbi Brown
