Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat
August 8th, 2011
If you like O.P.I’s shatter, you’ll really like Sally Hansen’s Crackle Overcoat as well. It’s less expensive, and it comes in 8 shades. The crackle overcoat is a nail polish that separates upon application, revealing the shade of nail polish you put underneath. Our favorite combination was the black crackle over white nail polish. You only need one coat of Crackle, and it dries in 60 seconds. We also used Crackle with Sally Hansen’s Double Duty Strengthening Base & Top Coat, it made our manicure last forever! Every nail will have its own unique mosaic pattern. To see what Crackle looks like watch the video here.

Zinn Beauty Collection Contest
August 3rd, 2011
Most likely, you’ve noticed that a lot of beauty products seem to have argan oil these days. The Zinn Beauty Collection is one of the first U.S. cosmetic brands that contains argan oil that is pure enough to use on the body, hair, and face. Argan oil has actually been used in Europe and Morocco for centuries for skin and hair, but did not catch on in the U.S. until 2009. All of you naturalists will also be happy to know that Zinn products are free of preservatives, artificial colors, parabens, and sulfates; and there is no animal testing. We tried their products and put what we think below. You’ll be able to find the Zinn Beauty Collection in beauty salons, drug stores, and major retailers later on this summer with prices between $24.99 and $29.99. However, Zinn Beauty Collection is providing the entire collection (Velvet Cleansing Milk, Revitalizing Anti-Aging Cream, Smooth Body Milk, 100% Moroccan Argan Oil) to three lucky Free Beauty Events readers. To enter to win, just comment on this post with your favorite use for argan oil!
Organic Moroccan Argan Oil – This is the most versatile product. You can literally use this to care for your entire body. Beautifully packaged, you can use it for hydration, reversal of premature aging, stretch mark fading, scars, age spots, acne, dry cuticles, and damaged hair. A little of this goes a long way! You only need a small amount when using it on the skin. It didn’t weigh our hair down as we expected. Our favorite way to use this was to use it to boost our regular daily moisturizer.
Revitalizing Anti-Aging Cream – This is our favorite product of the entire collection. We were skeptical when we saw that this cream had a host of oils in the ingredient list (sunflower oil, jojoba oil, argan oil, etc). So we thought, won’t this clog our pores or lead to greasy skin? Actually it was quite the opposite! Our combination skin was clearer after just two days of use, and our skin looked less greasy with this than our regular moisturizer. And no more dry patches! This cream does a terrific job in balancing the skin, our dry spots were perfectly moisturized and our t-zone was clearer and more matte. This cream is also designed to refine lines and wrinkles, restore elasticity, and boost collagen. We found that the anti-aging quality of this cream was just as good if not better than any department store brand. This cream truly does everything it claims.
Velvet Facial Cleansing Milk – This is a must for people with sensitive skin. Since there is not much foaming action, you can cleanse your face and take off makeup without taking out moisture. This product also has oils, but even those who suffer from acne will benefit from this cleanser. This product has astringent properties (i.e. tea tree oil is an ingredient) that help with acne, rosacea and uneven toned skin. If you have a Clarisonic cleanser or an Olay Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System Cleanser, you may want to try the Velvet Facial Cleansing Milk. Since these electronic cleansers do the exfoliating they work best with gentle cleansers. We tried this with our Olay cleanser and loved it.
Smooth Body Milk – Great body moisturizers aren’t very difficult to find. But what makes the Smooth Body Milk different is that it helps even skin tone as well. We found this to be a great moisturizer and it was very light weight. So if you like thick or heavy lotions
or body butters this product may not be for you.
Three winners will be chosen by 8/10/2011 and notified by email 8/17/2011. U.S. residents only.

Broadway Nails Fashion Diva Go Glam
August 2nd, 2011
If you like Minx nails but don’t want to spend the $60 on a trip to the nail salon, you may want to try Broadway Nails Fashion Diva Go Glam. They are press on nails and last only about a week, but Minx Nails are only guaranteed to last about 4-8 days. It’s also a great way to decide whether or not you want to try a very unique look before devoting a lot of money to it. If you get the Fashion Diva Go Glam in Metal, you can compare it to the Minx Zebra Black & Silver Professional.

Lumene Pure Radiance Day Cream SPF 15
July 19th, 2011
We have found the most luxurious drug store brand day cream! Lumene’s Pure Radiance Day Cream is rich without being too greasy. It has a great fresh scent and contains vitamin Cc to brighten the complexion, plant sterols for moisture balance, and antioxidants to protect the skin from future aging. We really liked the feel of it and the texture it gave our skin. It serves as an excellent base to prep your skin for foundation. However, if you have oily skin this is probably too heavy for you as a daytime moisturizer.

Dr. LeWinn by Kinerase Instant Dermal Wrinkle Filler
July 15th, 2011
If you are impatient with skincare results you’ll like Dr. LeWinn by Kinerase Instant Dermal Wrinkle Filler. It has kinetin which promotes long-term wrinkle reduction over time, but it also smoothes wrinkles in ten minutes with osilift. Osilift is made of oat kernel sugars and creates an invisible film on the skin. This formula is also rich in anti-oxidants, a must for any anti-age product. Of course, this product doesn’t give the same results as injectables, but we thought it worked great for wrinkles.
