Almay Wake-Up Makeup
April 19th, 2011
If you have dry skin you may shun powders. But Almay’s Wake-Up Makeup is a powder that is ironically hydrating. This mineral foundation uses technology to infuse encapsulated water in loose powder. The formula also contains cucumber, minerals, aloe vera, and green tea extracts to condition the skin. Best of all, this formula is talc-free, so your pores will be safe. We loved the feel of this powder (it has a cooling sensation upon application) and found it to be very similar to Revlon’s Color Stay Aqua Mineral Makeup. If you’re trying to decide between the two we would say choose Almay if you have sensitive or dry skin; and choose Revlon if oily skin is a concern and you want more staying power.

Almay One Coat Get Up & Grow Mascara
April 11th, 2011
You can always count on Almay to make good mascara. Their latest, One Coat Get Up & Grow has an anti-breakage formula with vitamins which improves lashes with each use. As the name implies, one coat is actually enough to get bold looking lashes, which is a great time saver. However, this is not a formula that easily washes off with soap and water so you’ll definitely need a good makeup remover.

Revlon ColorStay Aqua Mineral Makeup
April 7th, 2011
If you’re into technology in cosmetics, you’ll like Revlon’s ColorStay Aqua Mineral Makeup. The powder actually has the feel of water when applied to the skin! For the upcoming hot months, the cooling sensation is welcome. This product is made with coconut water and no oil, so you can be shine-free. As an added plus, ColorStay Aqua Mineral Makeup has an SPF13 and is fragrance-free. We loved that the product lasts all day, but the downside is that there are only 8 shades available

Ponds Evening Soothe Wet Cleansing Towelettes
March 31st, 2011
Many of the makeup removing towlettes on the market claim to remove all makeup, and then when you try them out it’s like a bad April Fools prank. Ponds Evening Soothe Wet Cleansing Towelettes actually removed ALL of our makeup easily. We think that the cloth being textured has a lot to do with it; it lifts more makeup that way. It also passed the ultimate test, which is removing black eyeliner and mascara. If you’d like to give the Ponds Wet Cleansing Towlettes a try you can go to http://www.ponds.com/coupon.aspx for a coupon. We tried the towlettes with chamomile and white tea (ingredients which are soothing to the skin) for evening, but they also have a morning towlette with citrus and cucumber

Max Factor Vivid Impact Highlighting Mascara
March 28th, 2011
The formulas for mascaras are always changing but the available colors remain the same. For a different look, Max Factor’s Vivid Impact Highlighting Mascara in shade 901 has a basic black coat, and then a pink shade to go on the top. The color is a lot more subtle than it looks in the tube, but it’s still a fun to have some pink on your lashes. What we liked the most about this formula is that it easily washed off at night so there weren’t any remnants of pink and black in the morning! You can’t buy Max Factor’s in stores in the United States, but you can buy the shade we tried at Amazon.com.
