Quantum Riveting Reds Color Replenishing Shampoo
October 24th, 2013
Dyeing your hair red can be a real pain because it fades so rapidly. Christina Hendricks from Mad Men has to color her hair every other episode to maintain the vibrant shade! We tried Quantum Riveting Reds Color Replenishing Shampoo since it’s hair color friendly, and takes it a step further and actually deposits color. This shampoo also helps with frizz. This shampoo really does extend the life of your hair color. Your hair gets a bit more red with every use! It’s also gentle, so it doesn’t do anything dramatic for your hair texture. But you can make up for that by using a great conditioner.
Tip: For warm highlights, try using Marc Anthony Instant Highlighting Spray with this shampoo. Spray on your hair and flat iron for highlights, then when you shampoo use Riveting Reds. A very cost efficient way of getting amazing copper highlights!

Nuance Salma Hayek AM/PM Anti-Aging Super Cream
October 19th, 2013
We appreciate that Salma Hayek’s beauty product line, Nuance, contains natural ingredients. The latest product we tried is the AM/PM Anti-Aging Super Cream. This contains tepezcohuite, which is a type of tree that ancient Mayans sourced for skin treatment. The upside of this cream is that it’s only $5, but the downside at only .265 oz, this will be the smallest container in your beauty cabinet. We actually liked the size since it’s not very sanitary to dip your fingers in a container of moisturizer for months on end. Our verdict is that this product works as well as pricier products in the anti-age arena. Hydration wise, this works well enough and is not very greasy. If you have extremely dry skin you may need more moisture.
Tip: If your skin needs more moisture than your favorite anti-age cream provides, try layering with a skin oil. For example Bio-Oil works well in conjunction with other products.

RoC Retinol Correxion Sensitive Night Cream
October 15th, 2013
RoC Retinol Correxion Sensitive Night Cream claims to do a lot of things, improve skin texture, expression lines, photo damage, wrinkles, and radiance. It contains retinol and hyaluronic acid, which of course you know are proven anti-age ingredients. What makes this product different is that it allows people with sensitive skin to take advantage of these ingredients. Retinol is a very irritating product, and you can build up a resistance to it by introducing it to your skin gradually. However those with sensitive skin may find that they can’t use it at all. We tried this on sensitive skin and found it to be far less irritating than regular products. Since this product is geared toward sensitive skin, don’t expect dramatic results right away. After two weeks we saw skin texture and radiance improvement, but no immense improvement in wrinkles.
Tip: This product seems to work even better when combined with a regular anti-aging cream.

Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer
October 6th, 2013
If you’re into a true lipstick with high pigment and full coverage, then Rimmel’s new Apocalips Lip Lacquer will be your dream come true. The ads say it has the rich color of a lipstick enhanced by shine, which made us think it was more of a gloss/lipstick hybrid. But when you actually wear it, you’ll find that Apocalips Lip Lacquer really doesn’t fall into either category. It goes on as a very thin layer, however what makes it different is that the layer goes on as an intense full coverage lipstick. It has a bit of shine, but no more than a regular lipstick. It also doesn’t have the stickiness of a gloss. This product is fairly long wearing, but be prepared to see it on your drink glasses (it’s not a non-transferable lip product). All in all, we loved this product, but wouldn’t recommend it for everyone who isn’t truly into lip color.
Tip: Wear their intense pink shade, Apocaliptic the same way you would wear an intense red – keep the eyes and check color subtle.
