Aveeno Positively Nourishing Body Wash
May 19th, 2010
Anyone with sensitive skin severe enough to prompt trips to the dermatologist has known about Aveeno for ages. The natural and soothing ingredients in their products have always won over people with issues such as dermatitis, eczema, and psoriasis. Lately Aveeno has been branching out – completely revamping their body wash and moisturizer line. We tried their new Positively Nourishing Body Wash. It’s lightly fragranced with Pomegranate and is very gentle on the skin. Rice beads and walnut shells give the product a unique look, and work to exfoliate dead skin cells. What we loved the most about this product is that we got soft skin and a nice scent, but no irritation.
Tip: Right now you can go online and get a $3 coupon! Go to https://www.aveeno.com/skincare/skincare-register to receive yours.

AcneFree 1 Hour Pimple Patches Kit
May 13th, 2010
If a blemish magically appears in the morning just in time to ruin your day, you can try University Medical’s AcneFree 1 Hour Pimple Patches Kit. At first we thought that this was just a glorified version of placing acne medication on a band-aid and putting it on your face. However, these patches actually have neat technology. The patches contain battery cells that activate when combined with the Benzoyl Peroxide (a top acne fighting ingredient). The medication then becomes micro-charges; allowing it to penetrate deep into the skin faster. Our verdict? The patch ‘reduces pimple size, redness, and duration’ as promised. But don’t expect a miracle; it won’t completely disappear after one hour!

L’Oreal Studio Secrets Professional Magic Perfecting Base
May 10th, 2010
If you’re one of those picky people who don’t like the feel of heavy foundations but like full coverage, you’ll love L’Oreal’s Studio Secrets Professional Magic Perfecting Base. It sets the stage for any foundation to perform well. It has a velvety texture that absorbs shine, so this is for those of you who like a matte finish. The product claims to smooth lines and hide pores, we find that it works best on hiding our pores. Ironically, Magic Perfecting Base is also perfect for women who DON’T wear makeup, as it improves the look of your skin for hours without adding pigment.

L’Oreal Revitalift Deep Set Wrinkle Repair 24 Hour Eye Duo
April 26th, 2010
The concept of day and night products for your face makes sense effectiveness wise, but it can be cumbersome to have so many products using valuable bathroom counter real estate. We love L’Oreals Revitalift Deep Set Wrinkle Repair 24 Hour Eye Duo. The day and night eye cream is on one tube, so you can give your eyes extra attention with minimal effort. The day eye cream contains L’Oreal’s fiber restoring complex to repair skin around the eyes, and a SPF of 15 to prevent future damage. The night eye cream has the fiber restoring complex but also contains pro-retinolA – a dermatologist favorite for smoothing lines. The bonus? The ingredients seem to be working AND it didn’t sting our eyes.

Eugene Schueller
April 22nd, 2010
L’Oreal, the world’s largest manufacturer of high-quality cosmetics and perfumes, began with just one person. French chemist Eugene Schueller created L’Oreal in 1907 starting with the invention of the first chemical hair dye in his kitchen sink – called Aureale. This dye was a monumental change, as women could only dye their hair black or red with natural dye. In the 1930’s and 1940’s, stars such Jean Harlow and Mae West increased the popularity of L’Oreal’s hair bleach, L’Oreal Blanc. In 1945, L’Oreal launched the first cold permanent wave product, Oreol. Schueller was innovative with his marketing tactics and was awarded an advertising Oscar in 1953. Famous artists were commissioned to d
esign poster ads and L’Oreal jingles played on the radio. Schueller launched his own women’s magazine, Votre Beaute, and promoted his Dop (the first mass market shampoo) in hair lathering competitions at French circuses. Schueller passed away in 1957 and Francois Dalle succeeded as chairman and CEO. The company continued to prosper, with acquisitions including Lancome in 1964, Helena Rubinstein in 1989, Garnier in 1978, Maybelline in 1996, Soft Sheen in 1998, and Carson in 2000. Currently L’Oreal has the industry’s highest research and development budget and the largest cosmetological laborories in the world. U.S. customers make up 30% of its sales.

University Medical Face Lift Youth Serum
April 21st, 2010
A sure way to reduce the appearance of fine lines is to have an excellent moisturizer. But what about the wrinkles that aren’t going anywhere with just a bit of cream? University Medicals Face Lift Youth Serum promises to take care of the deep set wrinkles, such as parentheses and forehead lines. We tried this product and were amazed to see it actually does work! The star ingredient in this serum is Syn-ake – an anti-wrinkle peptide. Although we were impressed with the results, we noticed that we only saw drastic results for a few hours. It looks like Botox is still winning the war!

Nautica Woman Bermuda Blue
April 16th, 2010
Heavy fragrances don’t bode well with the sweltering heat of the summer, so it’s nice to have a light airy fragrance. And though we weren’t that impressed with the plain packaging for Nautica Woman Bermuda Blue, we loved the scent. It’s a clean, fresh scent – the perfect candidate for our new summer fragrance. Although it doesn’t smell like it, Bermuda Blue is inexpensive, so you can be free to spray away!
Tip: Always try on scents on your skin. It should smell great on paper AND you!
