Choose a hat with a broad rim, sunglasses with UV protection and breezy clothes, preferably made from cotton. Using protective clothing is even more essential in the situation you have to work in the open outdoors, thus spending a lot of time in the sun.

#2 Sunscreen Should Be Your Best Friend

One of the easiest methods of protecting your skin from the damage done by the sun is using sunscreen lotion. A safe sunscreen is the one that offers protection against both UVA and UVB rays. You should seek out to purchase a sunscreen with high SPF, as this delivers the most effective protection. Also, if you are going to the beach, it is recommended to use waterproof sunscreen. In the situation you cannot find such a product, make sure to re-apply your regular sunscreen every two or three hours. When it is cloudy outside, you should also apply sunscreen as UV rays can penetrate the clouds and damage the skin.

#3 Avoid Reflected Light

You might think that spending time under your umbrella gives you sufficient protection against the sun. However, you should be aware that UV rays reflect themselves on various surfaces, including the sand, concrete and especially water. It has been demonstrated that water reflects UV rays 100%, thus being able to cause a lot of damage to the skin. The same goes for snow, as this can reflect 75% of the UV rays. This is the reason why you need to wear protective clothing at all times, including the right accessories, such as sunglasses and hats. You can also apply zinc oxide paste on your skin for an added level of protection.

#4 Avoid Tanning Oils

No matter what other people might have to say, there is no such thing as a healthy tan. On the contrary, the more time you will spend in the sun, the higher the risk of skin damage is going to be. You might also want to avoid using tanning oils; these facilitate the absorption of UV rays at the level of the skin and thus contribute to the premature aging of the skin. The risk of sunburns is considerably higher when using tanning oils, so be sure to remember that the next time you will be tempted to purchase such a product.

#5 Skin Peels for the Rejuvenation of the Skin

If you want to ensure the healthy aspect of the skin, you have to consider in-office procedures from time to time, such as skin peels. Such a procedure can remove the damaged layer(s) of the skin, exposing a healthy, fresh one. However, it is important to avoid exposure to the sun after you have had a chemical peel, to maintain its healthy aspect. Keep in mind that the skin needs to recover after such cosmetic procedures, so immediate exposure to the harmful action of UV rays is a definite no.

These are only a couple of tips on how to protect your skin from sun damage. It is important to remember that our skin is highly sensitive to the action of the sun. If you want for it to stay healthy, you need to use sunscreen with high SPF and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, especially in the middle of the day.

How to Get Longer, Sexy Lashes Naturally

Tuesday, September 30th, 2014

Who doesn’t want eyelashes like the ones featured in mascara ads? The models always have “come-hither” ones that are long, lush, glossy and voluminous. And even though we know that those lashes are the result of a makeup artist’s expertise or Photoshop, we still flock to drugstores and cosmetic counters anticipating the thicker, fuller lashes that makeup brands promise.

If you’ve been blessed with a good amount of eyelashes, mascara can be a quick and simple fix if you want to give your lashes a little oomph. But what do you do if you don’t have much to work with? False lashes are an option, but who has time to apply them every day? And lash extensions can set you back up to $400 per session. If you want more dramatic lashes and don’t want to go to extremes, here are a few things that you can do to help promote eyelash growth.

Eat a Well-Balanced Diet

Just like the hair on your head, your lashes can thrive if you nourish them from the inside out. By eating a diet rich in vegetables, fruits, whole grains and lean proteins, you can help ensure growth. You can also try adding a daily multivitamin if you don’t think you’re getting enough nutrients. A supplement that contains vitamins B, D and E is ideal. These vitamins are key for boosting growth and keeping lashes strong. Biotin is also another option. You can try a supplement or eat biotin-rich foods like bananas, pecans and sardines. Be sure to check with your doctor to make sure that supplements are right for you.

Groom Your Lashes

You take care of your hair every day. So start tending to those lashes. Try brushing your lashes twice a day with an eyelash brush. Brushing on a regular basis can help encourage growth. Add a little vitamin E oil to the process as well. Vitamin E oil is great because it prevents shedding. You can find vitamin E oil at a drugstore or health food store. Other options to try are castor oil and emu oil. Just lightly apply the oil of your choice to your lashes before bedtime, and avoid getting in in your eyes.

Always Be Gentle
When you’re taking off your eye makeup at night, don’t tug or rub your lashes. Use gentle strokes when using makeup remover or cold cream. And if you use lash curlers daily, you might want to take a break from them. Over time, they can weaken lashes and cause breakage. Try combing them instead for a neater look. If you’re looking for a more permanent lash growth solution that won’t break the bank, try everLASHing Lash Growth Serum from Verseo Beauty & Wellness. With this special blend of cell-regenerating peptides, botanical ingredients and lash conditioning elements, you can see healthier and fuller lashes in just four weeks.

The Best Ways to Pamper Your Feet in
Spas Today

Tuesday, September 16th, 2014

Everyone deserves to be pampered from time to time and this does not only include ladies anymore. It is less likely that a man will be will be going in for French pedicures and more feminine treatments, but why not treat yourself to a massage or a foot detox? So, what exactly can you get for your feet in spas today?

Massages That Will Make Your Body Melt
There are few things in this world that are as relaxing and as pleasant as professional massages that you can get in spas. This also includes foot massages that can vary in techniques, duration and parts of the foot that are massaged, but which all share one very important thing – they feel so great.

The most common type of foot massage is the Chinese foot massage also known as reflexology massage, which is supposed to remove the energy blockages in the body by applying pressure to certain points on the foot. It is a treat, whether you believe in the energy stuff or not.

Thai foot massage is quite similar, although it involves the use of sticks that are used to apply pressure to certain points on the foot. Of course, there are some differences in the oils that are used, the movements and so on.

You can also go for a sports foot and leg massage which is geared more to helping you with certain foot problems, such as plantar fasciitis, arthritic pain, as well as common ankle and toe pain as well as daily wear and tear.

Pedicures That Will Make Your Feet Beautiful
A nice, comprehensive and rich pedicure is the most pampering that you can provide for your feet and if you ask us, the best place to get these is at spas where you will find the best masseurs. When it comes to pedicures, the choice is even greater than with massages, although the pedicures will mostly differ in the products that are used.

For example, the French pedicure is characterized by the nail polish finish which involves clear or light pink coat for the largest part of the nail with the white crown on the tips. Paraffin pedicure involves dipping the feet in paraffin wax before the nail polish. Margarita pedicure involves various lime products, while a champagne pedicure will involve actual wine and grape products.

More Experimental Procedures
A fish pedicure is a relatively new and still somewhat controversial treatment that you can get in many spas today. It involves dunking the feet in a container with water and a certain type of fish which eat the dead skin off the feet. The opinions are still quite divided on this treatment though.

Detox wraps and baths are also a somewhat new type of foot pampering and once again, the opinions are divided. Some say these detox treatments are a waste of time and money while others swear by them.

What are you still doing reading this? Go to your nearest spa and spoil your feet the way they deserve to be spoiled, carrying you around all day.
