10 Home Spa Hacks

Tuesday, June 19th, 2018

Today, more than ever, we often feel like our lives are becoming more hectic and stressful with every day that passes. Everyday, we find ourselves juggling day-to-day tasks and unending lists. This daily struggle often finds us caught in a brutal cycle and feeling overwhelmed. Our hectic lives can cause a disconnection between our bodies and minds, leaving us at the mercy of stress and its effects on our bodies, moods, and health. This makes it imperative we indulge ourselves with a little relaxation and self-care to keep us healthy and happy.

A simple way we can accomplish this goal, is by treating ourselves to a day of pampering at the spa. Unfortunately, sneaking off to the spa is not a very feasible option for many of us due to schedules, finances, or locations. However, all is not lost! With a little creative thinking and mindful choices we can bring the spa to us. This is wonderful news, because research is finding self-care improves our overall health, boosts our immune systems, reduces levels of stress, and even enhances our sleep which can leave us feeling refreshed and relaxed.

To indulge in some much-needed self-care, try one or more of the following 10 home spa hacks to help wash stress down the drain:

Soak it off
And easy, but effective solution, is to enjoy a hot and steamy bath. Transform your ordinary bathtub into a magical spa experience by gathering the following items: fragrant flower petals, essential oils, favorite epsom salts, white candles, your favorite playlist, a bottle of wine, and a calming arrangement of your favorite flowers. Then, shut the door and soak away all your stress, worries, and anxiety.

Bomb it!
Throw a little “shock and awe” at stress with some homemade fizzing bath bombs. Gather common household ingredients, such as: epsom salts, cornstarch, baking soda, and a little citric acid to make any bath luxurious and relaxing. You can also add your favorite essential oils and scents to maximize your home spa experience.

Just beat it!
Crack an egg or two and use the whites to whip up a foamy skin treatment. This home spa hack is eggs-cellent for treating oily skin by working as a simple toner. The yolks can be beaten with a dash of olive oil or mayonnaise and a splash of water to create a natural deep conditioning treatment for your hair.

Add some heat
It’s the small details that make a spa treatment soothing and an easy way to achieve this by bringing the heat. Warm towels in the dryer and heat lotions by placing them in a container brimming with hot water. This is an easy way to pamper yourself without a lot of extra prep work or cost.

Make your own beauty masks
Instead of buying pricey masks that are loaded with chemicals, raid your kitchen cupboards and fridge to create your own luxurious mask. Consider combining a little oatmeal, honey, avocado, or yogurt for a soothing skin treatment.

Close your eyes
Refresh tired or strained eyes by placing cucumber slices, wet green tea bags, or tiny slices of potatoes on your closed eyelids. This home spa hack allows you to take advantage of natural antioxidants found in these common items to reduce inflammation and puffiness.

Remember your hands and feet
Take care of all parts of your body, especially tired hands and feet by soaking them for five minutes in warm water. Follow this treatment with a generous application of a favorite lotion and then apply clear nail polish to your nails.

Embrace mini-meditations.

Any trip to the spa isn’t complete without a little meditation. So, while treating yourself to a home spa day, be sure to include mini meditations. You don’t need expensive equipment or any special equipment to embrace this technique, simply focus on your breathing while paying attention to your senses. Focus on things you can feel, like warm water running over your skin or how the sunlight radiates on your face.

Have a ball
Roundup wayward tennis balls to use for rolling out knots and areas of tension in your back or shoulders. While using a pillow to prop up your head, place the balls under your back and roll your body over them to relieve tight muscles.

Infuse your water with a little flavor
We know that setting aside time for self-care is crucial for our well-being, but it doesn’t have to be tasteless. Create your own infused waters by placing cucumbers, sprigs of mint, a handful of favorite fruits, and slices of lemons or limes in your glass of water. Sip on this concoction throughout the day for a little spa therapy at home.

6 Skincare Habits for Youthful Looking Skin

Tuesday, June 19th, 2018

A big part of a woman’s confidence comes from the appearance of her skin. Sun spots, wrinkles, scars, and other skin issues can make it difficult to live our daily lives carefree and happy, especially if we don’t feel beautiful enough to be proud of our own face. Rather than using makeup to play with colors, we start using it to hide behind it. So, what can we do to avoid this and keep our skin youthful and beautiful? Well, we’ve got some tips.

Always use sunscreen

This is the number one, unavoidable rule that you always need to adhere to. Sunscreen is your best bet when it comes to preventing skin cancer, but it’s also pretty damn amazing at staving off wrinkles and preventing hyperpigmentation. Most of the signs of aging are actually a consequence of sun damage, and if you spend a lot of time outside, you really need to protect your skin. This holds true for every season of the year, not just summer. Bear in mind that sunscreen really is the best way to do this because makeup that contains SPF usually doesn’t have a high enough of a protection factor, and even if it does, you’d need to slather it on in a pretty thick layer for it to be fully effective. We also recommend avoiding sunbathing too much (use a self-tanning lotion if you want some more color), and especially avoid tanning salons (we’re not joking around here, they’re extremely bad for your skin).

Cut down on sugar
Sugar doesn’t only affect your weight, but your skin as well. Through the process called glycation, sugar binds itself to protein molecules when it enters our bloodstream and degrades our collagen and elastin molecules. This causes your skin to degrade and increases your chance of developing wrinkles. It can also make your skin sag. Instead, try eating more veggies and lean meats, particularly superfoods that can nourish your skin from the inside out.

Be very consistent

The key to that delectably soft, plump complexion is a combination of good products and consistency. By incorporating a quality serum, moisturizer, and an eye cream you will have a great set of moisturizing skincare products at your disposal, especially if you pick products that don’t contain parabens, harsh chemicals, or synthetic fragrances. Then, the only thing you’ll need to do to help it along is to stay consistent. Don’t be lazy with the application because establishing a good routine is really the key to letting all of the products do their magic. Besides, skincare shouldn’t be a chore. Think of it more as a calming beauty ritual that’s there to make you feel pampered every day.

Get enough sleep
Lack of sleep can literally cause neurological and cardiovascular damage, so is it any wonder that it can cause wrinkles as well? If you don’t get enough sleep, your skin doesn’t get the chance to repair itself during the night, you also wake up swollen, exhausted, and squinting at the world as you stumble around looking for coffee. Get your regular seven hours a night, ladies! It’s called “beauty sleep” for a reason.

Drink more water

As simple as this tip is, it’s incredibly effective. If you drink enough water, your skin will be clearer and better moisturized. It’s particularly important to stay hydrated if you drink a lot of tea or coffee, or exercise regularly. Seriously, try to increase your daily water intake and see how your skin feels after only three weeks.

Have strategies to unwind
And finally, the biggest contributor to bad skin is stress. It’s bad for our overall health, and it’s terrible for our complexion. So, what can be done? Since none of us can really avoid stress, it’s important to find strategies to deal with it. Perhaps you will go out for a run, or maybe you’ll go to the salon for a massage. Yoga, tai chi, or sports can really help you unwind, but so can activities such as painting, making crafts, listening to music, and especially reading a book. Why not sit down in a comfy chair, put on a sheet mask, and enjoy a good novel?

Hope you enjoyed these tips. The biggest trick really is to make them all a part of your daily routine, so try not to skip any of these steps and enjoy the way your face is slowly being rejuvenated over time.

Beauty Nighttime Habits You Should Adopt

Tuesday, June 19th, 2018

If you’re a lady who loves to take care of her physical appearance, health, and overall well-being no matter what – welcome to the club and congrats, because that’s the best thing you can do for yourself! However, we have a few useful beauty nighttime habits you should adopt as soon as possible, if you already haven’t, so be sure to keep on reading to learn more about these. Check them out and enjoy!

Thoroughly remove your makeup no matter what
The first and one of the most essential steps every girl should take before going to bed is removing her makeup, so be sure to do the same every time you’re getting ready for bedtime – without exceptions! Even though a lot of ladies love to use makeup remover wipes, the truth is that these definitely won’t get rid of everything – especially if you’ve had a full makeup look going on that day. So, you should better switch to micellar water appropriate for your skin type (Garnier has amazing ones), add a few drops of it to a clean cotton pad, and effectively remove your makeup without leaving any residue behind. Once that’s done, you should carefully wash your face in order to unclog the pores and let your skin breathe, and voila – you’re ready for the next step!

Try a purifying face mask
A purifying face mask is always a good choice, and it can be particularly beneficial for your skin once you’ve removed all those layers of makeup that have been sitting on your face all day long. Such a mask will remove the dirt and makeup residue (in case that something was still there after a nice wash) and prevent you from breaking out the next morning. Of course, you can still use a purifying mask such as Nivea Urban Detox face mask (the green one), even if you have a couple of pimples on your face, as it’s quite gentle and won’t give your face a harsh treatment. Such a product will improve the quality of your skin and deal with acne, rosacea, and dark spots at the same time, which is exactly why you shouldn’t skip a purifying face mask under any circumstances.

Always, always brush your teeth, without exceptions
Needless to say, neglecting your oral health is one of the worst things you can do for yourself and your overall well-being, so make sure to brush your teeth every night before going to bed. Of course, your regular toothbrush will do the trick, but you should definitely step up your brushing game and get a set of Picnix interdental brushes which have been designed for optimum cleaning. These are really easy to insert in-between teeth, with a quality handle that’s easy to grip and doesn’t slip. Their fine tapered bristles and a plastic coated wire will provide additional comfort, and you’ll know that you did everything you could to get rid of everything that may cause damage to your teeth. Once you’re done with your interdental brushes, you should use your favorite mouthwash, too, so make sure to use the right amount, swish it around the mouth, and spit it out, without swallowing. As simple as that!

Switch to a lightweight moisturizer
Everyone knows that moisturizing is one of the most important steps when it comes to skincare, which is why you shouldn’t neglect it either. As summer is almost around the corner, we reckon that you’ll want to switch from heavier creams to more lightweight formulas, which is completely understandable as your skin simply doesn’t need those thick creams during the hot summer days. It actually needs a product that will quickly absorb into the skin and hydrate it from within, without making it sticky and greasy all day long. Of course, this means that you should look for either serums or products with gel-like formula, simply because these won’t sit on the top of your skin but penetrate deep into it in order to provide enough nourishment. So, find a moisturizer according to your skin type and don’t skip it before going to bed.

As you can see, these four steps are essential parts of any girl’s beauty nighttime routine, so make sure not to skip these before bedtime. Once you do that, you’ll both look and feel much better, which is exactly what counts most!

7 Habits That Make Dark Circles Worse

Monday, May 21st, 2018

Are You Making These 7 Common Mistakes That Are Making Your Dark Circles Worse?

We all know how much pressure there is in the world today to look our very best. Dark circles under our eyes can make you look older as well as telling the world that you’re working too hard.

The thing is, even though dark circles are usually caused by genetics, there are a few things you’re probably doing that are making them worse. Of course, by using the best dark circle creams you can reduce the appearance of dark circles. Luckily though there are also some habits you can change to help stop those dark circles.

1. You’re Not Sleeping Enough
This is one you’ve probably heard all the time. Not getting enough sleep makes dark circles worse. Studies have even shown this. If you’ve got dark circles taking up residence under your eyes then the first thing you need to do is evaluate your sleep schedule.

In fact, lack of sleep makes your eyes redder and more puffy. The lymphatic system doesn’t drain as well under your eyes and this causes that puffiness. And, you know, puffiness makes those dark circles look worse. So lack of sleep has a lot to answer for.

If you’re not getting your full 7 hours of sleep a night you need to re-evaluate your sleep schedule. Getting those 7 hours of sleep actually helps with a bunch of other things too, like you actually live longer!

2. You’re Sleeping Too Much
Yeah, I know we just said that not sleeping enough makes your dark circles worse but sleeping too much makes them darker too. If you sleep too long you actually cause fluid to build up around your eyes. Fluid build up around the eyes makes your eyes become puffy. And puffiness makes – yeah you guessed it – those dark circles look worse.

7 Hours really is the magic number. Anything above or below that and you’re likely to not live as long! Too much sleep, just like too little sleep, causes so many problems and you’re likely to feel more tired too. So make sure you’re getting around 7 hours to help those dark circles and just to generally feel better every day.

3. You’re Not Drinking Enough Water
Did you know that dehydration is one of the number one causes of sunken eyes? And, of course, sunken eyes make your dark circles appear much worse. So are you getting enough water?

It’s really recommended that you have 6-8 glasses a day, between 1-2 liters, to make sure that you’re properly hydrated. You’ll probably need a bit more even if you work out regularly or do a lot of physical activity.
Drinking enough water has a number of other benefits too like good skin, better sleep, better nails, hair and teeth amongst other things. Just drink more water, ok?

4. You Don’t Clean Your Car Regularly
I know, cleaning your car seems like such a tedious task but did you know that your untidy car could be contributing to your dark circles? The upholstery in your car is a perfect place for dust mites and mold spores to collect. This is a nightmare if you suffer from a mold or dust mite allergy.

So called “Allergic Shiners” are very real. If you duffer from a dust or mold allergy you’re likely to be getting dark circles and if you’re spending a lot of time in a dirty car then those dark circles are going to be getting worse. So make sure you clean and vacuum your car on a regular basis to minimize the likelihood of getting Allergic Shiners.

5. You’re Over Cleansing Your Eyes
Do you find that you really have to rub your eye area to take off your eye makeup? Do your eyes feel sore or burning after you’ve cleansed? If so, you’re definitely over cleansing your eyes.

If you have been over cleansing your eyes, the best dark circle creams should be able to help reduce the pigmentation and puffiness. You should also try using an oil-based cleanser for your eyes. Oil-based cleansers “melt” the makeup off your face instead of requiring you to rub to get off your waterproof mascara.

6. You’re Forgetting to Apply Sunscreen
Did you know that just by applying sunscreen every day you’ll reduce the hyperpigmentation associated with dark circles? The best dark circle creams will likely have SPF in them, but it’s better to use a regular sunscreen combined with your eye cream.

Sunscreen is really a daily requirement. It will protect you from harmful UV Rays that cause a number of negative effects including wrinkles, sunspots and skin cancer. Make sure that you don’t skip your sunscreen.

7. You’re Using Water Too Hot to Wash Your Face
This is probably the most overlooked habit of the entire list. I do it. In fact you’ve probably had a few steam facials. But did you know that’s actually making those dark circles worse?

Washing with water that is too hot actually causes puffiness around your eyes. When your eyes are puffy it makes the appearance of dark circles a lot worse.

The best thing you can do for your face – and your dark circles – is to start washing with lukewarm water. A lot of skincare specialists recommend washing with lukewarm water and then splashing cold over the top to tighten your pores.

As you can see there’s a lot of things you’re probably doing on a regular basis that are making those dark circles worse. The key things to take from here is to not only utilize the best dark circle creams but also to make sure you’re hydrated, get enough sleep – but not too much sleep and to be careful how you wash your face. Make sure your environments are kept clean and dust free if you have a dust or mold allergy. And don’t forget to apply your sunscreen every day.

Beauty Confidence: Body and Skin Care

Thursday, May 17th, 2018

Yes, we know that every woman out there craves for flawless, spot-free skin, but the truth is that a lot of them simply can’t manage to make that happen. There are a lot of factors that contribute to your skin, health, and overall well-being, so make sure you stay with us if you want to learn more about them. Here are four amazing tips you should stick to, so check them out and enjoy!

Detox your body from the inside out

One of the best ways to look and feel fabulous no matter what is to detox your body from the inside out, which will inevitably translate to your skin. The fact is that the outside of your body undoubtedly reflects what’s going on inside of it, which basically means that your skin shows both positive and negative influences. The process of detox should start with drinking a glass of warm water with lemon every morning since it can successfully flush the toxins out from the body. Besides that, you should stay away from processed foods as much as possible, as these are full of artificially added sugars that can wreak havoc on your skin. Just be sure to stick to fresh fruits and veggies that are rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals which have multiple benefits for your skin, and you’ll see a fantastic improvement. Of course, you should ditch cigarettes and alcoholic beverages as well, since these are extremely harmful to your health, beauty, and overall well-being.

Never underestimate the power of a good moisturizer

A quality moisturizer is an absolute must, no matter if your skin is normal, dry, or oily. Apart from nourishing your skin and hydrating it to the max, a good facial cream can also prevent your skin from premature aging, which is exactly what you should look for despite your age. When talking about skin types, women with dry skin require a richer formula with a thick texture, as that’s the only way for the product to work properly and lock in the highly required moisture. On the other hand, oily skin enjoys lightweight products like serums and gel-like creams, since these can be absorbed much faster, without being too sticky and tacky throughout the day. Normal skin type needs a moisturizer that can help it produce moisture on its own, so be sure you look for a moisturizer that contains alpha hydroxyl acids if you have normal skin.

Opt for a cosmetic procedure that will boost your self-esteem

A lot of people these days are extremely conscious of how they look, and the majority of them deal with their own insecurities and even bullying on a daily basis. If you’re one of them, too, remember that there are ways to overcome those obstacles and feel great in your skin once again. One of the best ways to make that happen is to opt for cosmetic surgery, which is a groundbreaking field that indeed has much to offer. Starting with patients with inborn deformities and all kinds of skin conditions, to people who simply want to improve their body features in order to feel more confident and attractive – there really is something for everyone, so take advantage of it and enjoy your transformation. Ladies from all over the globe opt for breast augmentation nowadays, as this procedure helps them regain their self-esteem and feel much happier and more satisfied. The rule is simple – if it makes you happy, go for it and you won’t regret it!

Explore the world of fabulous sheet masks

If you’re one of those ladies who simply love to pamper themselves with some fabulous beauty treatments, you’ll be thrilled to hear about Korean sheet masks you can use in the comfort of your own home. Everyone’s raving about these masks these days, from beauty bloggers to YouTube influencers, and reasons for that are more than good – these are extremely beneficial for all skin types as they target different issues, which is why everyone adores them. Basically, a sheet mask is a cotton-based sheet infused with a serum or some kind of essence that features a plethora of ingredients beneficial for your skin. What makes them different from regular face masks is the fact that this sheet creates a seal on your skin that prevents essential ingredients from evaporating. Those ingredients, therefore, penetrate much deeper into your skin and nourish it from within, which is exactly what your skin needs. If you haven’t tried them yet, what are you waiting for?

As you can see, there are a lot of great ways to take proper care of your skin and body in general, in order to look and feel as fantastic as possible. Once you manage to get it right, you’ll see a wonderful improvement you mustn’t overlook!
