CoverGirl Clean Pressed Powder (Sensitive Skin)
Monday, August 30th, 2010
Our preferred method to use pressed powder is to take a large brush and use it to set foundation and combat greasy skin. CoverGirl’s Clean Pressed Powder for Sensitive Skin really did the job. We were shine free for the entire day, and it didn’t feel heavy at all. We chose the one for Sensitive Skin because it’s fragrance free – we figure the less ingredients to irritate our skin, the better! We also like that their website can help you choose your shade http://www.covergirl.com/products/product.jsp?productId=clean_sensitive_pressed_powder so you have a pretty good idea of what you need before you go to the store.

What is your favorite beauty tip to share?
Saturday, August 21st, 2010
We all have a favorite beauty tip … maybe it is something passed on from your mom or your best friend. Or, maybe you are a professional makeup artist. Please share your BEST beauty tip with all us beauty-addicts.
Here is our favorite tip this month:
If you are out with a snagged nail but tragically without a nail file in your purse, grab a box of matches and use the ignition strip. For at home we recommend Revlon’s new File-N-Smooth Nail File. It has a unique 2 way stainless steel surface designed for back and forth filing without damaging your nails. It may be pricier than an emery board, but it has a lifetime guarantee and germaphobes will appreciate that you clean the file and reuse!

Eco-Tools Bamboo 5 Piece Brush Set with Case
Monday, August 16th, 2010
Eco-tools is a brand that is worthy of mention since they donate 1% of all their sales to 1% for the Planet, an organization dedicated to preserving our planet. Armed with a great excuse to buy beauty products from EcoTools, we tried their Bamboo 5 Piece Brush Set with Case. At a little under $12 for all 5 brushes and a case we didn’t have high expectations for excellence – especially since the brushes aren’t made with animal hair. But although these brushes are made from synthetic bristles, they are really soft! The brush set contains a blush, eye shading, eyeliner, and concealer brush, and a lash and brow groomer. The brush handles are made from bamboo, a highly sustainable plant, and the metal parts are made from recycled aluminum cans. Although we were happy to buy from a brand that is cruelty free and environmentally conscious, the added bonus is that they make a truly quality product. We can’t wait to try their Earth-Friendly Travel Sample Set to see if their skincare is as nice as their makeup brushes, please leave a comment and let us know if you’ve tried it!

Physician’s Formula Glow-Boosting Pressed Shimmer Bronzer
Thursday, August 12th, 2010
If you’re a package snob then you would really like Physician’s Formula’s Glow-Boosting Pressed Shimmer Bronzer. It is fancy enough to belong in a department store – the compact contains a retractable bronzer brush, mirror, and gold handle. And unlike most bronzers at this price point, the brush is luxioriously soft. Not only does the fluffy texture of the brush make bronzing more pleasant, it helps give you a subtle glow instead of a muddy finish. Another important thing about this bronzer is that it doesn’t have any orange so it’s easier to achieve the look you want. And as with all Physican Formula products, this bronzer is paraben free and hypoallergenic.

Garnier Skin Renew The Brusher Gel-Cleanser
Monday, August 9th, 2010
Have you ever tried a product and became resentful that it hadn’t been created sooner? That’s how we felt about Garnier’s Skin Renew The Brusher Gel-Cleanser. First of all, it’s fun to use! We ended up taking a much longer time to wash our face as the brush feels like a mini massage. And it’s very easy, you just squeeze the bottle slightly and the brush is loaded with the face wash. The packaging and application would win most people over, but the cleanser is actually a great formula. You get all of the foaming acting to make you feel like you’re getting a good clean, but you also get Vitamin B5, Vitamin E, and Green Leaf Extract in a cleanser that’s non-drying. Here is why we are so impressed: if you don’t have oily skin, you usually don’t get to use aggressive cleansers that make your skin feel fresh and free of makeup. This product allows someone with normal to very dry skin literally scrub their skin clean without dry patches later! Our only hope is that Garnier never discontinues this product.

Moroccan Oil Glimmer Shine Spray
Friday, August 6th, 2010
We were curious about Moroccan Oil after reading several write ups in Marie Claire and Elle. It seemed like there was always a celebrity touting the benefits of using this haircare line. The main ingredient in Moroccan Oil is argan oil, which is allegedly found only in Southwest Morocco. Its benefits? UV protection, free radical neutralizing, stronger hair, and increased elasticity. What is wonderful about Moroccan Oil is that they do not use animal ingredients or perform animal testing. Despite the hefty price tag of about $25, we tried the Moroccan Oil Glimmer Shine Spray. This spray is said to enhance highlights, prevent frizz, and give great shine. At first we were sorely disappointed with how greasy our hair looked – a little goes a long way! But by the end of the day the oil was absorbed and our hair looked healthier in general. Although it didn’t seem to do much for frizz as promised, it did an incredible job at softening our hair. We found this product to be the most useful for touching up the ends before heat styling.

L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Deep-Set Wrinkle Repair SPF Day Lotion
Wednesday, August 4th, 2010
L’Oreal accomplished the impossible it seems with their Revitalift Deep-Set Wrinkle Repair SPF Day Lotion. It works aggressively against wrinkles, but it’s light weight enough to wear during the day. We tried it underneath our makeup and loved that it wasn’t greasy like many anti-age lotions are. We are also fans of their Revitalift Radiant Smoothing Wet Towlettes.
