Physicians Formula Eye Definer Automatic Eye Pencil

Saturday, March 30th, 2013

erase3Not having to bother to sharpen your eye pencil is always a plus, so we tried Physicians Formula Eye Definer Automatic Eye Pencil in Dark Brown. The pencil glides easily across the eyes and actually had a great amount of pigment. All you need is one pass – you don’t have to keep going over it. We really appreciated that since automatic pencils can sometimes be too waxy to really make an impactful line. However, it is not as effective as a traditional pencil on the lower lash line.

CoverGirl Smokyshadowblast

Monday, March 25th, 2013

erase3‘Easy smoky eyes’ is always a plus when you’re buying eyeshadow. We tried CoverGirl’s Smokyshadowblast in bronze fire to do a smoky eye in brown and champagne hues The shadow is on a stick, which is very unique. The consistency is creamy and has a more shiny finish than a regular eye shadow. Because it’s a creamy shadow, if you have oily eyelids it may not stay (you’ll need a primer). We easily achieved a smoky look, making this product perfect if you don’t have much time to do your makeup in the morning. However, if you want your eyes to look like Drew’s in the ad, you’ll need to put in a lot more work than the simple instructions on the back of the package.

Vaseline Total Moisture Cocoa Radiant Lotion

Sunday, March 10th, 2013

erase3Cocoa butter has always been a go to ingredient for people with very dry skin. Vaseline has just introduced their Total Moisture Cocoa Radiant Lotion, which has cocoa butter as well as ingredients to make the moisture go deeper than the outer layer of skin. This is a bit lighter than other cocoa butter body treatments, such as those by Palmer. However, we were pleased to see that the lotion gave long lasting moisture. We weren’t huge fans of the scent, but this is an excellent formula for those who want a lot of moisture without a heavy feel. We’re also pretty excited to try their newest product – Spray & Go Moisturizer.

Tip: If you have extremely dry skin and lotion doesn’t seem to do the trick, try putting on lotion and then use a light layer of gel oil on top. The oil will keep all the moisture from evaporating from your skin.

Armani Maestro Fusion Makeup

Thursday, March 7th, 2013

eraseAfter seeing Armani Maestro Fusion Makeup profiled in Allure Magazine as a truly innovative product, we decided to give it a try. This foundation is different since it’s water and powder-free, and uses an oil-pigment suspension that perfects the complexion. The result? A highly thin film that corrects imperfections without buildup. When we used the product we couldn’t believe how wonderful the finish was. It doesn’t go on heavy and perfects your complexion, but it doesn’t actually look like you have makeup on.  We assumed from the product description that this would be a full coverage foundation, but after using it discovered it was more so medium coverage. At $62 Armani Maestro Fusion Makeup is not cheap but we appreciated the technology behind it enough to justify the price. In the end, we loved the way this made our skin look but don’t think it’s good for those looking for heavy coverage or oil-control.

St. Ives Natural Soothing Body Lotion

Sunday, March 3rd, 2013

eraseIf you have very sensitive skin, you’ve probably already discovered that oatmeal is a great soothing ingredient. We tried St. Ive’s Natural Soothing Body Lotion since not only does it contain oatmeal, it also has shea butter (a must for dry skin). This is probably one of the richest lotions available on the market. If you prefer thicker creams or body butter, this may still be worth a try. We really liked this formula – the lotion moisturized well and it didn’t irritate at all. The scent is fairly unisex. Although this lotion doesn’t have a nice perfume-like fragrance as other lotions that are more so marketed to women, we recognize that this is probably what also makes it so perfect for sensitive skin.

Tip: If you have very sensitive skin, try also buying detergent and fabric softener formulated for sensitive skin. With so much contact with your skin, clothes can also be a source of irritation.
