Broadway Nails Nail Dress Stick-On Wraps
Friday, May 27th, 2011

Broadway Nails has a neat line of nail stickers that look like the intricate designs you would get at a salon. Since they are stickers, the great thing is you have no dry time and don’t have to worry about smudging your nails. However, you really need to take your time putting these on. If applied incorrectly, the stickers can get bubbles or folds which ruins the nailpolish effect. We tried the wild pink leopard print design and loved how unique it looked. Unfortunately, this only gave a day of perfect looking wear (to be fair; this was tested short, thin nails). Next time we will use the tip from the Broadway Nails website, which is to use a clear coat over the stickers for extended wear.

Revlon Crazy Shine Nail Buffer
Thursday, May 26th, 2011
Unpolished nails can still look great with Revlon’s Crazy Shine Nail Buffer. It claims to create top coat shine in seconds that lasts 3 days and provide 400% shinier nails. We tried it and loved the shape of the buffer. Instead of being rectangular like most buffers, its tear drop shaped so you can get every part of your nail buffed with ease. When you’re done, it actually looks like you have clear polish on your nails. This buffer is fine grained, and the other side (which is even finer) polishes your nails. However, if your nails peel or you have ridges you’ll need to use a coarser buffer first.

Rimmel Natural Bronzer
Tuesday, May 24th, 2011
Sparkly bronzers look good on some women, but others could benefit from a more subtle approach. If you want a more natural finish, you’ll like Rimmel’s Natural Bronzer. It doesn’t have too much glitter and there’s not too much orange or too much brown. It blended with our makeup well and it was easy to get a professional look. There are three shades available. When choosing yours, just remember that bronzer is supposed to warm, not color your skin, so choose a shade that’s close to your skin tone.

Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara
Monday, May 23rd, 2011
Many of the latest mascaras have ingredients to make your lashes grow longer. We tried Rimmel’s Lash Accelerator Mascara which contains a grow-lash complex with Procapil. After using it for awhile our lashes did seem longer. And as with any mascara, you get instant lengthening. As compared to Almay’s Get up and Grow Mascara we found that it washed off a lot easier and lengthened more. However the Get up and Grow gives way more volume.

L’Oreal Studio Secrets The One Sweep Eye Shadow
Monday, May 16th, 2011
L’Oreal has taken the concept of ‘goof-proof’ to a different level with their new Studio Secrets The One Sweep Eye Shadow. If you’re not good with makeup or if you don’t have very much time in the morning this definitely works. We tried the 819 Natural for All Eyes palette and loved it. It’s very natural looking so it’s perfect for work or an interview. However, if you love a dramatic look, you may want to try their other shadow lines.

L’Oreal Infallible Le Rouge Lipstick
Friday, May 13th, 2011
Nude is the go to color for the spring in cosmetics and fashion. It’s pretty tough to find a great nude – the wrong shade can look either chalky or muddy. We thought that L’Oreal did a good job with their Infallible Le Rouge Lipstick in shade 828. It’s the perfect nude color lipstick, and it although it has staying power, its conditioning vitamin E formula makes it comfortable to wear.

Magical Gro
Thursday, May 12th, 2011
Great hair starts at the roots. If you relax your hair, chances are you have both dry hair and scalp. African Pride’s Magical Gro products ensure that your scalp and hair are never dry with heavy duty moisture and herbs. Eczema and psoriasis sufferers may also appreciate these products as unfortunately these skin conditions reach the scalp. We tried a few of their Miracle Gro products as well as Olive Miracle Anti-Breakage formula and here is what we think. The good news is that African Pride will send one lucky winner ALL of these products. To enter to win, just comment below this post with how you keep your scalp healthy!
Magical Gro Rejuvenating Herbal Formula – This strengthens the hair and the scalp. It stops breakage, split ends, and dry herbs. You can actually see the herbs in the product, but you can’t see them after you put the product in your hair. This is a petroleum base product, so a little goes a long way. Try starting out with application to dry areas of your scalp and on the ends of your hair and use more as necessary.
Magical Gro Maximum Herbal Strength – This has more herbs than the Rejuvenating Herbal Formula. This is for extremely damaged hair. Again, this is petroleum based so you don’t need a lot to get results. We didn’t find it very much heavier than the rejuvenating herbal formula. If your hair is pretty brittle we recommend this one.
Magical Gro Rejuvenating Oil Formula – With this one you can’t actually see the herbs. This is more oil rich and is also for dry damaged hair. We thought this was good for making sleek pony tails.
Olive Miracle Anti-Breakage Formula – This is not a Miracle Gro product, but just the same it’s great for damaged hair. The consistency is like a body butter, and it contains olive oil, shea butter, and herbal oil extracts. This also helps with making your hair manageable. Out of all four of these products, we liked the scent of this one the most. Try putting this on your ends before blow drying to keep split ends at bay.
Winner will be chosen by 5/19/2011 and notified by email 5/26/2011. U.S. residents only.
