B’iota Botanicals Herbal Shampoo for Thinning Hair for Normal Dry/Hair

Monday, May 19th, 2014

erase3With the prevalence of celebrities with extensions, it’s easy to feel like your hair is too thin. B’iota Botanicals is a European brand that creates plant-based beauty products. Their BIOXSINE Series Herbal Shampoos for Thinning Hair is supposed to give stronger, thicker, fuller looking hair. The first thing we noticed about the shampoo is that it has a fairly pleasant scent. We’ve tried other products for thinning hair and although effective, the scents can be medicinal. This shampoo gives your hair a healthy, volumized look. However, if your hair tends to be on the oily side, you should know that this isn’t one of those shampoos that volumize by stripping your hair. This shampoo is best for someone who is looking for both moisture and volume. If your hair is on the frizzy side, don’t be afraid to use this shampoo. For our testers with frizzy hair, they found that by using their usual anti-frizz products after shampooing they could have the best of both worlds – thick and smooth hair. The one drawback? In terms of detangling, B’iota Botanicals Herbal Shampoo for Thinning Hair doesn’t do much.

Tip: Trying to get thicker hair with no results? Hair dye in darker colors coats your strands, giving an overall fuller look. Darker shades of brown really help. Also doing a color glaze or rinse on a regular basis will keep your hair infused with color.

Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Eye Cream & Lash Serum Duo

Sunday, May 18th, 2014

eraseIf you’re really into taking care of your eye area, you may be interested in Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Eye Cream & Lash Serum Duo, which helps your eyes look younger and brighter in just one week. We tried the duo, and admittedly it’s not a huge time saver as there are two steps. The eye cream packaging is great. Instead of a pot that is prone to contamination by continually dipping your fingers, it’s a small tube that allows you to ration out a perfect amount. The consistency is not as thick as we thought it would be since it’s a cream. However, it’s a very powerful moisturizer and plays nicely with makeup. It contains the Olay Advanced Amino-peptide Complex + hydra firming complex which is supposed to penetrate deeply into the skin surface and the eye area. The lash serum is fun to use because it separates and coats your eye lashes, so you may be tempted to go without mascara. The serum didn’t help with growth but definitely made the most of existing lashes. The glycerin formula is basically a lash conditioner. All in all, if you have the time, this product is a good step toward beautiful eyes.

Pop Beauty Stain Stay Lip Stain

Wednesday, May 14th, 2014

erase2Stains aren’t known for being moisturizing, so we were intrigued to see that Pop Beauty’s Stain Stay Lip Stain had panthenol to condition lips. You may not have heard about Pop Beauty before – they’re a London company that has expanded globally. We tried the Peach Pucker shade. As promised the color doesn’t smudge and it wasn’t drying. However on the downside Stain Stay Lip Stain applicator dried out rather quickly. If you have any great tips for keeping lip stains from

Garnier Clean + Purifying Foam Cleanser

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2014

erase2Combination skin is a weird thing to have – if you buy products for oily skin it will dry out face, but moisturizing products don’t take care of excess oil. We tried the Garnier Clean + Purifying Foam Cleanser, which is for combination skin, to see if it really did strike the balance. Instead of salicylic acid (which can be too harsh for everyday use for many), this cleanser uses foaming action to lift the oil and dirt out of your skin. The bottle itself is unique, instead of pumping the cleanser, you just squeeze the bottle to get the foam in your hand. You may think it’s annoying to use if you shake it as you’ll just get a little bit of liquid. The key with this is to just pick it up and squeeze with the bottle upright. It would be helpful if Garnier had made it clearer on the packaging. It’s one of those things that you’ll hate until you get the hang of it, and then you’ll think the packaging is ingenious.

Garnier Clean + Purfiying Foam Cleanser also has antioxidants, Grapefruit, and Pomegranate to nourish your skin. The cleanser is great for softening your skin. With long term use, we found it to be a little drying, but combination cleansers always err on one side. If your skin tends to be a little more dry, we would suggest using this cleanser in the morning only and using a very mild cleanser at night. We also found Clean + Purifying Cleanser to be non-irritating, so those with sensitive skin will probably like it too.

100% Pure Pigmented Mascara

Monday, March 17th, 2014

eraseLooking for a vegan cosmetics company? Check out 100% Pure, a relatively new company that makes vegan cosmetics, skin care, and hair products. And of course, there is no animal testing. We tried their 100% Pure Pigmented Mascara, which conditions and tints your lashes with real berry pigments and black tea. This mascara gives a really natural finish with absolutely no clumps at all. Its strength isn’t really with thickening your lashes, but you get decent lengthening. Here’s what’s interesting: you may not have realized how irritating your mascara is on your eyes until you try this product. It’s great for sensitive eyes and washes away easily with soap and water. In sum, 100% Pure Pigmented Mascara is perfect for everyday, but you’ll want more if you like drama. But after trying such an excellent product that is without chemicals, animal products, or animal testing, we wonder why all cosmetics companies don’t follow suit. Hopefully products like 100% Pure’s will become the norm instead of the exception.
