It’s a common complaint that women have as they get older that they actually look younger without makeup. It’s a strange problem to have, since foundation is supposed to make you look better not older! Foundation and especially powder can build up in fine line and creases, accentuating the very thing that you were trying to hide. This is why it makes sense to have an anti-aging foundation. We tried Revlon’s Age Defying Firming + Lifting Makeup, which has hyaluronic acid for hydration, moisturizers, and ingredients to lift the skin. The best thing about this foundation is that it stays on top of the skin instead of gradually sinking into lines. The result is more of an air brushed effect. So does it make you look younger? It gives you a glow and smoothness to your skin and covers instead of highlights wrinkles. Win Revlon Age Defying Wrinkle Remedy Line Filler when you enter our contest of the quarter!
Tip: Do you have fine lines? Don’t knock the traditional remedy of olive oil! It’s rich in antioxidants, which protect your skin from free radicals that age skin cells.

DermaSilk 1 Minute Collagen Lift has the advantage of giving instant gratification. In just one minute, it’s supposed to smooth wrinkles. The good news is that did work. The bad news is that the effect is temporary. To maintain the effect, you need to reapply every 4 to 6 hours. The product itself is sticky and tacky to the touch, so we don’t recommend using it underneath foundation. We recommend this product for days when you don’t want to wear makeup but still want the look of great skin.

We tried Olay’s Total Effects 7 Wet Cloths Cleanser since it promised to not only remove makeup, but also fight 7 signs of aging. Like Olay 2-in-1 Daily Facial Cloths, we thought that these cloths worked wonderfully to remove makeup, but it does sting if you get the cleanser in your eyes. We thought that these cloths were great for our skin’s texture as well.

Vitamin C is proven to be an effective ingredient for minimizing pores and reducing hyperpigmentation, but when it’s exposed to air it loses its effectiveness. Lumene has found a way to overcome this problem by putting daily doses in tiny capsules in jar. Not only do these ‘drops’ have a vitamin C, they also have moisturizing plant sterols and antioxidants. You get a 28 day supply, which is enough to see a huge difference. In terms of skin texture and even tone, this is the greatest product we’ve tried. If you put it on at night, you’ll see the difference in the morning. And although we loved the matte texture it gave our skin, we don’t recommend you wear this during the day. Vitamin C makes your skin more sensitive to sunlight, so putting it on at night is best. And you’ll also want to be sure to use a sunscreen. This product reminds us of Estee Lauder’s Idealist, which is one of their best sellers. Lumene suggests you use the product over the course of 28 days. However, we think it’s also a good idea to just use a capsule at night whenever you want your skin to look great the next day.

We just discovered a company called Elan Veda that makes holistic beauty products which are based on Ayurveda. Ayurveda originated in India and aims to integrate and balance the body, mind, and spirit. We tried two of their products, Elan Skin Renue and Elan Healthy Hair. Elan Skin Renue contains a unique blend of essential oils and is said to improve radiance and minimize wrinkles. It can also be used under makeup. While this product wasn’t greasy at all (a huge feat for an oil-based product) we wouldn’t recommend this for someone who has acne or very oily skin. This really softens your skin and our favorite way to use this was to combine with our favorite moisturizer. If you have a moisturizer that’s not quite doing the job anymore with the cold weather, using this oil could give it a much needed boost. The oils in the Elan Veda product line are bottled in Miron Violet glass which provides a great barrier against detrimental elements – so the oil quality is always preserved. We also tried Elan Healthy Hair, which is a supplement that is said to naturally eliminate factors in the body that inhibit hair growth while promoting vibrant, thicker hair. You take two of these a day and there is a 30 day supply. We tried a 2 week stint on these vitamins and discovered it was great for nails too! Since a difference in hair takes a lot longer to see we are going to continue with the Healthy Hair supplements as we’re encouraged by the results so far.
