Elan Veda Elan Skin Renue and Elan Healthy Hair

We just discovered a company called Elan Veda that makes holistic beauty products which are based on Ayurveda. Ayurveda originated in India and aims to integrate and balance the body, mind, and spirit. We tried two of their products, Elan Skin Renue and Elan Healthy Hair. Elan Skin Renue contains a unique blend of essential oils and is said to improve radiance and minimize wrinkles. It can also be used under makeup. While this product wasn’t greasy at all (a huge feat for an oil-based product) we wouldn’t recommend this for someone who has acne or very oily skin. This really softens your skin and our favorite way to use this was to combine with our favorite moisturizer. If you have a moisturizer that’s not quite doing the job anymore with the cold weather, using this oil could give it a much needed boost. The oils in the Elan Veda product line are bottled in Miron Violet glass which provides a great barrier against detrimental elements – so the oil quality is always preserved. We also tried Elan Healthy Hair, which is a supplement that is said to naturally eliminate factors in the body that inhibit hair growth while promoting vibrant, thicker hair. You take two of these a day and there is a 30 day supply. We tried a 2 week stint on these vitamins and discovered it was great for nails too! Since a difference in hair takes a lot longer to see we are going to continue with the Healthy Hair supplements as we’re encouraged by the results so far. We like companies that recognize that some people have the misfortune of having both under-eye circles and wrinkles. L’Oreal’s Youth Code line contains GenActive Technology, which is said to boost skin’s natural powers of regeneration. The eye cream in this line has a metal tip applicator which helps to de-puff under-eye bags, and the formula itself has micro-pearls which diminish the appearance of under-eye circles. We found this eye cream to be excellent for day. It’s not greasy so it goes well under makeup, and we found after continued use we had less problems with eye makeup settling in lines.

It’s a sure sign that everyone is getting serious about skincare given the popularity of cosmeceuticals – combinations of cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. Instead of just covering your crow’s feet with makeup, you can treat your skin at the same time with Almay’s Smart Shade Anti-Aging Concealer. It moisturizes your skin to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, depuffs your eyes, and it has an SPF of 20 to reduce further damage. This product comes in light, medium, and dark and it transforms into your ideal shade upon application. What we loved the most is that we got a perfect concealer color and our eyes looked smooth. However, even though the product is hypoallergenic we felt a little bit of sting while using it. Maybe it was the ingredients that depuff? This concealer is great if you’re looking to combat aging and smooth your skin. But if you have dark under eye circles it may not be enough coverage – this concealer provides light to medium coverage.

Many foundations are great at hiding wrinkles, but as the day progresses the foundation starts to settle in fine lines and wrinkles, which does more emphasizing than hiding. A great alternative is Almay’s Smart Shade Anti-Aging Makeup. This is a sheer to medium coverage foundation that not only won’t settle in fine lines, it actually improves their appearance. We liked the matte finish of this foundation and the lightweight feel. The product goes on white, and then transforms to a shade that matches your skin tone. Women who need darker shades may be disappointed, this product only comes in Light, Light Medium, and Medium. Also, we don’t recommend this product if you like full coverage.

Yves Rocher Fatigue Eraser Cleansing Cloths

Cleansing cloths are a great compromise between going to bed with makeup on like you’re not supposed to and going through with the cleanse, tone, and moisturize routine. We really liked Yves Rocher’s Fatigue Eraser Cleansing Cloths because not only did they remove our makeup completely, but they also smoothed are fine lines and parentheses. It has a ‘Botanical Anti-Aging Hormone Complex’ and we’re not sure what the exact ingredients are; but we know that it definitely works.

L’Oreal Skin Genesis Pore Minimizing Skin Re-Smoother

For years there has not been a comparable product to Estee Lauder’s best-seller, Idealist Pore Minimizing Skin Refinisher, which retails for around $46.50. So we applaud L’Oreal for coming out with a product that’s just as effective, but is available in local drugstores.
Selling at around $19.99, the Skin Genesis Pore Minimizing Skin Re-Smoother is one of the few skin care products that we’ve seen that gives instant results. Unlike many of the all natural organic products that are being launched today, L’Oreal has a more scientific approach for the Skin Genesis line. However, all the formulas are dermatologist tested to be safe and gentle.
To start with, even the packaging is advanced. Pore Minimizing Skin Re-Smoother has a unique airless pump, which protects the formula. It also doesn’t hurt that the tube is really neat looking! This product claims to tighten pores and retexturize skin, and it actually delivers. After one application, our pores looked smaller and our skin was softer.
The active ingredients are pro-xylane and hyaluronic acid (used by dermatologists for wrinkles). This product is to be used daily, underneath moisturizer. This formula absorbs in the skin very rapidly, and we found that we could not use it without moisturizer. It’s also very lightweight, so we didn’t feel like we had a lot of product on our skin.
