Aveeno Positively Radiant Intensive Night Cream

Sunday, March 9th, 2014

eraseTone, texture, dullness, blotchiness, and brown spots – Aveeno Positively Radiant Intensive Night Cream claims to address all of these concerns. It’s star ingredient is the total soy complex, which harnesses the power of beneficial soy as well as Vitamin  B3.  We tried this cream and thought its greatest strength was that it’s non-irritating. It can be hard to find a night cream that is great for brown spots and texture that doesn’t aggravate sensitive skin. It’s a great moisturizer and isn’t too greasy. That being said, you won’t get extreme results when it comes to brown spots. However it seems to make an improvement on complexion overall. At $16.99 we think this is a pretty good bargain, and even more so for those with sensitive skin.

Tip: Did you know that soy is great for people with combination skin? It has the ability to moisturize dry areas while increasing oiliness in other areas!

AVEENO® NOURISH+ STRENGTHEN Shampoo

Sunday, January 5th, 2014

erase smallerAveeno is a great brand for skin that is so itchy and dry that it doesn’t respond well to regular lotion. So it stands to reason that their shampoo would be great for hair that’s in bad shape as well. We tried AVEENO® NOURISH+ STRENGTHEN Shampoo, which has a wheat complex that works to fortify the hair. It claims to repair up to 90% of breakage in just 3 washes. This shampoo is great for dry hair. It doesn’t dry it out and leaves enough elasticity to comb without a lot of breakage. Volume wise, this shampoo falls somewhere in the middle. It doesn’t provide a lot of volume but it doesn’t really flatten your hair either. We think this is a great product for anyone who has abused their hair with heat, chemicals, or color treatment. It smells great too! If you have fine thin hair that’s not damaged, you probably won’t be happy with the volume.

Tip: If your hair is damaged, sleep on a satin pillowcase. This is also better for your skin. Cotton absorbs moisture and isn’t very kind to your hair.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 15

Sunday, July 28th, 2013

erase2If you have sensitive skin, a lot of the ingredients used to even skin tone may be too harsh. We tried Aveeno’s Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer, which also has an SPF 15. With soy and light diffusers, this lotion is supposed to help with blotchiness and dull skin. This moisturized really well, and actually may be a little too much for those with oily skin to use during the day. It did a really great job at evening skin tone, but didn’t make a huge impact on very dark spots. So if you have a moderate problem with blotchiness this product does the job, but you may need a more intense product for really bad hyperpigmentation.

Aveeno Pure Renewal Dry Shampoo

Sunday, April 28th, 2013

erase3Dry Shampoo is a great way to freshen up hair and absorb extra oil. We tried Aveeno’s Pure Renewal Dry Shampoo and loved the clean scent.  Seaweed Extract is what makes this dry shampoo different, and it helps with manageability. If you’re hair colored don’t worry, the formula is sulfate free. Pure Renewal Dry Shampoo is also supposed to remove excess oil to boost volume. However, we found it lacking in that area. We think the best use for this product is for giving texture and refreshing hair.

Noxzema Hair Minimizing Shave Gel

Monday, October 25th, 2010

One of our favorite products of all time was Aveeno’s Positively Smooth Shave Gel. When Aveeno discontinued it, we started searching for a substitute. Similar to Aveeno’s product, Noxzema’s Hair Minimizing Shave Gel promises to help reduce shaving frequency. While Aveeno’s shave gel used Soy, Noxzema uses Capislow to minimize hair growth. After using Noxzema for a week, we noticed our legs were smoother, and the Vitamin E and Aloe Vera helped avoid razor burn and cuts. This shave gel has a great cucumber and melon scent – we are hoping they also come out with a version for sensitive skin with Capislow as well!

*11/11/10 Update* Aveeno sent us an email saying that their shave gels are back! They made some changes to their packaging and are now back in stores.
