Dremu Oil

Thursday, November 15th, 2012

Not all oil is bad for your skin. In fact, most skin types can truly benefit from it. We tried Dremu Oil, which is non-comedogenic. Dremu oil is made of 100% pure triple-refined emu oil. So where does this emu oil come from? It comes from emus, which are large flightless birds similar to ostriches. Their back has a thick fat pack where the oil is derived. On the Dremu website, it says that the emus are humanely treated. However, we wonder if the fat can be taken away from the bird while it is still living, and if so, if it’s painful? The lure of Dremu oil is that it claims to address so many skin problems; burns, acne, wrinkles, rosacea, etc. As promised the product quickly absorbs in the skin, so we didn’t have a greasy feel at all, and actually felt comfortable to use it during the day. However, considering its thick consistency, it didn’t moisturize as much as we would hope. However, we did like what it did for the texture of our skin. It’s a decent product, but only if you don’t have very dry skin.

Jane Iredale Balance Antioxidant Hydration Spray

Tuesday, July 10th, 2012

Some products are worth shopping for online. We purchased Jane Iredale Hydration Spray from http://www.dermstore.com/ and liked the product as well as our shopping experience. Not only was the shipping free, but we also got 2 free beauty products to try (a full sized lip balm and a travel anti-aging serum). Getting a gift with purchase every time you shop is ingenious! But back to the product itself, we purchased Jane Iredale’s Balance Antioxidant Hydrating Spray to get rid of summer greasiness without getting dry skin. This spray has seaweed (which helps regulate oil production), green tea, and calming ingredients that nourish the skin and neutralize free radicals. The spray feels incredibly refreshing and can be used to set mineral makeup. We loved the citrusy scent and while we felt that this spray conditioned on our skin, we were disappointed that it didn’t result in a dramatic reduction in oil. So if you have very acne prone or greasy skin, you may want to look for something stronger. On the other hand, we strongly recommend this if you have sensitive skin as it’s very calming and non-irritating. We tried using it under other brands of makeup, and found that you get a much better result by using it for its intended purpose – to set mineral makeup.

Bio-Oil Specialist Skincare

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

eraseMany celebrities mention that they use olive oil when asked how they have such beautiful skin. We all know that oil can have a transformative effect on skin, but how many of us are willing to put olive oil on our face? Bio-Oil Specialist Skincare is a great way to get the benefits of using oils on your skin without all of the greasiness. After about 5 minutes, your skin absorbs most of the oil, leaving you with a subtle sheen. With Vitamins A&E; calendula, lavender, and rosemary oils; we noticed the difference with the first application. This product can be used on scars, stretch marks, and uneven skin tone.  Unfortunately most of us suffer from at least one of those! Although the product is said to be okay for use as a day moisturizer, we preferred to use this at night as an intense treatment.
