WetnWild Color Icon Eyeshadow Palette

Monday, July 26th, 2010

Want your eyeshadow to last all day long? Try using foundation or concealer as a base before putting on your eyeshadow. For a smoky eye on a budget, we really liked WetnWild’s Color Icon Eyeshadow Palette in Greed. Students in cosmetology school can create a great look like this on a budget. It has 4 light shades, and a highly pigmented gray and black eyeshadow – perfect for blending!

Revlon Perfect Heat Ceramic Curling Iron

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

Curling irons have certainly come a long way. It used to be that the brand and type of curling iron you used depended on your hair type, and if you wanted a curling iron with different heat settings you would have to make an expensive trip to the beauty supply store. Revlon’s Perfect Heat Ceramic Curling Iron is relatively inexpensive at less than $10 at most stores. However, it has everything that you would look for in a curling iron. Its ceramic barrel ensures that your hair won’t be singed, and it has 30 heat settings!  We loved that we had so much choice for the heat level, it’s so much better than the old school ‘High’ and “Low”. We used it in the morning and still had curls at night without using hair spray. Best of all, the curling iron heats up in 30 seconds – perfect for getting ready for work.

AcneFree Therapeutic Sulfur Mask

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

Anyone who has ever suffered from serious acne knows that it is ALWAYS a big deal. Most people will pay anything to fix it. On the expensive side, you can Isolaz deep pore laser therapy from your dermatologist, or cortisone injections. If you’re on a budget but are looking for the real deal, we suggest University Medical’s AcneFree line. It actually works! We really like their Therapeutic Sulfur Mask. It turns light blue when it’s time to rinse off so you won’t be tempted to overdo it, and you only have to leave it on for about 13 minutes. We recommend this for anyone with serious acne.

CoverGirl Continuous Color Lipstick

Friday, July 16th, 2010

Long wear lipsticks are traditionally drying, despite the fact that they all claim they are not. CoverGirl’s Continuous Color Lipstick lasts for hours, but it actually leaves your lips in better condition! We tried it for work and waited for the inevitable parched feeling but it never came – the lipstick lasted a full day at work. It’s no wonder; this lipstick is 50% moisturizers, including Vitamin E and Vitamin A. If you’re looking for a nice red matte lipstick, try their Really Red shade 575.

CoverGirl Exact Eyelights Eye-Brightening Shadow

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

If you have some extra time to play with different makeup looks, try CoverGirl Exact Eyelights Eye-Brightening Shadows. They have a collection of shadows for each eye color family – blues, greens, browns, and hazels. When we saw the palette for brown eyes, which includes gold, black, cream and silver, we though it would be a disaster. But when we followed the instructions, the colors actually did look very pretty together! We really liked the soft bristle brush that comes with the shadow, you get more professional looking results.

Tip: To stop your eye shadow from flaking on your cheeks when you apply it, reverse your makeup routine. Put your eyeshadow on first, then be sure to brush off misplaced eyeshadow before apply foundation and concealer.

Revlon Pedi-Expert Shower Pedicure Kit

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

We have to admit, we were expecting to be unimpressed with Revlon’s Pedi-Expert Shower Pedicure Kit. Many exfoliating stones (both natural and synthetic) may work to eliminate dead skin, but leave your feet feeling rough. We were pleasantly surprised after using Revlon’s Pedi-Expert Shower Pedicure Kit. After one use, our feet were amazingly smooth. In the kit, you get a soft brush to exfoliate and clean your feet, a contoured stone to remove dead skin, and a cuticle pusher. The unit easily fits in your hand, and you can stack the brush on top of it (saving you valuable shower real estate). Hands down this is our favorite pedicure product we’ve tried to date.
