CoverGirl Exact Eyelights Eye-Brightening Mascara
Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010
The concept of enhancing what you already have is always appealing. So we tried CoverGirl’s Exact Eyelights Eye-Brightening Mascara. This line of mascara contains light reflecting metallics and a subtle tint that brings out blue, brown, hazel, and green eyes. Although we didn’t see a drastic difference as far as eye color enhancement, we really liked the formula. This mascara has a good balance between lengthening and thickening, and the brush left no clumps behind as promised.

Yes To Cucumbers Facial Hydrating Lotion
Wednesday, February 17th, 2010
Most people in who have walked through any mall in the United States have probably run into sales pitches from associates at kiosks aggressively selling skincare products containing Dead Sea minerals. These products may be overpriced, but we can’t deny the effectiveness of Dead Sea minerals on the skin. We found a more reasonably priced option at our local drugstore – Yes to Cucumbers Facial Hydrating Lotion. Not only do you get the benefit of Dead Sea minerals, you also get vitamins, proteins, and nutrients from organic green vegetables. If you have sensitive skin you’ll be happy to know that 99.6% of this spring water based lotion’s ingredients are natural, and it’s paraben free. What we loved the most about this lotion was that it was rich enough to transform our dry, dehydrated skin; but it wasn’t greasy at all. Our makeup looked smoother after using this lotion just one time. Yes to Cucumbers is a relatively new product line by Yes to Carrots. For more information, go to www.yestocarrots.com.

Bio-Oil Specialist Skincare
Tuesday, February 16th, 2010
Many celebrities mention that they use olive oil when asked how they have such beautiful skin. We all know that oil can have a transformative effect on skin, but how many of us are willing to put olive oil on our face? Bio-Oil Specialist Skincare is a great way to get the benefits of using oils on your skin without all of the greasiness. After about 5 minutes, your skin absorbs most of the oil, leaving you with a subtle sheen. With Vitamins A&E; calendula, lavender, and rosemary oils; we noticed the difference with the first application. This product can be used on scars, stretch marks, and uneven skin tone. Unfortunately most of us suffer from at least one of those! Although the product is said to be okay for use as a day moisturizer, we preferred to use this at night as an intense treatment.

Yves Rocher Brush-on Illuminator
Monday, February 8th, 2010
While we’re thankful that we can use foundation to cover up our imperfections, we were searching for something that would cover and help our skin at the same time. We love Yves Rocher’s Brush-on Illuminator. This foundation gives a natural, radiant finish. It contains almond oil to smooth the skin, apricot oil to hydrate, and cornflower water to soften. The retractable brush allows for easy application. We recommend this for women who like a natural look, this product gives light to medium coverage

Wetnwild MegaEyes Defining Marker
Friday, February 5th, 2010
Some makeup artists say that the true purpose of eyeliner is to make your eyelashes look thicker – so the actual lines shouldn’t be visible. For those who subscribe to this belief and want a nice clean line on their lashes, the Wetnwild MegaEyes Defining Marker is an eye liner that easily makes neat, natural lines. The formula is a nice hybrid of a regular eyeliner and liquid. As a shortcut to a perfect look we liked applying this liner on first, and then putting on our shadow afterward.

Wetnwild Lash Intense Mascara
Thursday, February 4th, 2010
It just goes to show that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to get a great mascara. Our latest recessionista find is Wetnwild’s Lash Intense Mascara. The mascara brush is very unique; it’s made of rubber with tiny nubs. We were doubtful that we would get results from this strange looking brush, but we were quickly proven wrong. The formula gives excellent volume, and the brush highlighted smaller lashes that we didn’t even know were there.

L’Oreal Skin Genesis Multi-Layer Cell Strengthening Moisturizer
Friday, January 29th, 2010
The world is your oyster when you go into the drug store looking for a moisturizer for dry skin. However, if you want a fantastic moisturizer that won’t leave your skin greasy and won’t dissolve your makeup, it’s a hard search. We like the new L’Oreal Skin Genesis Multi-Layer Cell Strengthening Moisturizer. They have a lot of technology and research behind it; but the end result is that the moisturizer is absorbed right into your skin when you put it on, leaving your face perfectly primed for foundation. This moisturizer is said to soften fine lines, brighten skin, and minimize pores. We found that it did the best job at pore minimizing. The bonus? This moisturizer also has an SPF of 15.
