Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation

Tuesday, September 24th, 2013

Nowadays, there are many steps to a flawless face, primer, concealer, foundation, highlighter, bronzer, setting powder…it goes on and on. CoverGirl cuts down on some of these steps with their Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation, which is a combination of primer, concealer, and foundation. As we expected, it’s a full coverage foundation.  As promised it’s also long lasting. So do you still have to wear primer and concealer? It covers well enough where you can get away with not using them.  But if you have very dark undereye circles, then you may want to still reach for your concealer. Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation is not drying at all (which is typical of some long wear foundations) so it’s great for dry to normal skins. Oily skin? Be sure to set with an oil-controlling powder.

Tip: For a more natural approach with concealer, put it on first, and then it will be blended when you use your foundation.

Maybelline Eye Studio® Master Duo 2-in-1 Glossy Liquid Liner

Tuesday, August 20th, 2013

eraseMaybelline has created a liquid eyeliner that is actually simple to use. You can make wide or thin lines depending on what side you use. To make this product better, we thought it would be nice if there was some sort of control how much eyeliner goes on the applicator, similar to mascara. We loved the versatility of this eyeliner, but our favorite part was how well the eyeliner stayed. You can literally rub your eyes and it won’t smudge! It removes with regular makeup removing towelettes – plain soap and water isn’t enough. The eyeliner tends to come off almost like tape in one full strip.

Tip: When removing liquid eyeliner, pressing a makeup remover pad on your eyelids for even just a few seconds can make a big different!

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation

Thursday, August 15th, 2013

eraseThese days, there really isn’t an excuse to have a foundation color that doesn’t match your skin. Maybelline has a line of foundation Fit Me, that not only has an extensive line of color choices, but they are designed blend in with your own skin tone. They all have a translucent base and lightweight pigment so your real skin shines through. We tried it and loved the lightweight feel and the way it blended. However, true to what Maybelline’s website states, the coverage is light to medium. If you have a lot to cover, then you’ll want to use concealer underneath. Also, this foundation is not for oily skin. Since there doesn’t seem to be any mattifying properties, those with oily skin will only get a few hours of good wear from this foundation.

Mustela Stretch Marks Double Action

Monday, July 22nd, 2013

erase2Mustela, a brand geared toward new moms, has a product called Stretch Marks Double Action. Its whole purpose is to prevent and reduce the appearance of new and recent stretch marks. It works by supporting the elasticity of the skin, moisturizing, and enhances skin renewal. As the label suggests, we didn’t see a huge improvement on older marks but we liked the consistency and thought its biggest advantage would be in preventing stretch marks. Since this formula is made with all natural ingredients, the bland scent of this product isn’t typical of baby products you’re used to.

Tip: Worried about stretch marks? There’s no way to completely avoid them after extreme weight fluctuations, so the best beauty tip is to avoid excessive weight gain by eating well and exercising.

L’Oreal Voluminous® Million Lashes Excess Mascara

Wednesday, July 10th, 2013

eraseVolumizing mascara is typically synonymous with clumping mascara, so we were intrigued by L’Oreal’s Voluminous Million Lashes Excess Mascara since it claims to be clump free. It definitely volumizes lashes as promised, and…it didn’t clump. The secret seems to be the brush. We found that wiggling the wand at the base of the lashes for more impact didn’t work well with this mascara—it causes the lashes to stick together. You’ll get the best results by applying it in a traditional upward swipe. No need to do two coats of Voluminous Million Lashes Excess Mascara, just one is all you need!
