Maybelline XXL Pro Extensions
Thursday, October 7th, 2010
We’ve tried many different types of mascara that claimed to give the look of false eyelashes, and although they have worked very well we hadn’t encountered a formula that made our lashes look like falsies. Maybelline XXL Pro Extensions is the most extreme mascara we’ve tried to date, it truly thickens and extends your eyelashes to the point where they look fake. This mascara requires a little more work than you might be used to – first you put a microfiber basecoat on, let it dry, then apply the 2nd coat of black mascara. But the results are definitely worth it. And unlike false eyelashes, there isn’t much work to do to when you come home. Your regular facial soap and water will remove the formula. Tip: Put the white coat on your lashes, then work on the rest of your makeup, and then do the second coat last. Letting the first coat dry really does make a difference!

Maybelline Expert Wear Eye Shadow Quad
Monday, October 4th, 2010
There is a reason why ‘how to do a smoky eye’ articles are published almost every month in fashion magazines. It’s really not an easy look to do. Maybelline took the guess work out of the smoky eye look with a quad (200 smokes) of easily blendable shadows that are marked with where you put the colors. Our biggest problem with inexpensive shadows is that the color goes on unevenly, making your eye look more so injured than smoky. However, what we loved the most was the quality of these shadows, even the darkest color went on evenly and blended well. With this we were able to achieve model worthy eye shadow looks in no time!

SJ Creations Ginger & Soy Creamy Hand Wash
Friday, October 1st, 2010
Dry skin? There could be many contributing factors: central heating or air, extreme hot or cold weather, smoking, caffeine, alcohol, or even poor diet. Regardless of the cause, when you have dry skin, washing your hands can just make it worse. We like SJ Creation’s Ginger & Soy Creamy Hand Wash because it leaves your hands feeling clean – not parched. And the fun part is that it has a light, pleasing fragrance. SJ Creations is a private based in California that offers high quality but affordable products. This is the first product we have tried from their line and so far we are impressed. Garnier Nutritioniste Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel-Cream
Monday, September 27th, 2010
If you read fashion magazines you’ve probably seen many advertisements for Garnier’s Nutritioniste Moisture Rescue line of skincare products. We tried the Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel-Cream and it’s our new favorite moisturizer. This product claims to moisturize for 24 hours despite being lightweight, and contains vitamin E and grape water extract. When you have very dry skin, your options are usually thick anti-aging creams and lotions. We found that we got more moisture from this lightweight gel than we do from our expensive anti-aging creams. Best of all, the condition of our skin gradually increased over the course of a week. The claim that the moisture lasts for 24 hours may seem extreme, but we were amazed to see this moisturizer defy dry skin even after a plane ride. Feel free to use this moisturizer with makeup, since it’s a lightweight gel it won’t interfere with your foundation. Nivea Hydrating Shower Gel
Tuesday, September 7th, 2010
If you’re very particular about your body wash and would rather shop for it at the mall then a drug store, you would like Nivea’s Hydrating Shower Gel. We tried it in Touch of Honeydew and the smell is amazing. It also has the unique feature of rinsing clean but moisturizing at the same time. The moisture is from the sunflower pearls, which are beads in the shower gel that release an extra dose of moisturizing oil.

CoverGirl Clean Pressed Powder (Sensitive Skin)
Monday, August 30th, 2010
Our preferred method to use pressed powder is to take a large brush and use it to set foundation and combat greasy skin. CoverGirl’s Clean Pressed Powder for Sensitive Skin really did the job. We were shine free for the entire day, and it didn’t feel heavy at all. We chose the one for Sensitive Skin because it’s fragrance free – we figure the less ingredients to irritate our skin, the better! We also like that their website can help you choose your shade http://www.covergirl.com/products/product.jsp?productId=clean_sensitive_pressed_powder so you have a pretty good idea of what you need before you go to the store.

Eco-Tools Bamboo 5 Piece Brush Set with Case
Monday, August 16th, 2010
Eco-tools is a brand that is worthy of mention since they donate 1% of all their sales to 1% for the Planet, an organization dedicated to preserving our planet. Armed with a great excuse to buy beauty products from EcoTools, we tried their Bamboo 5 Piece Brush Set with Case. At a little under $12 for all 5 brushes and a case we didn’t have high expectations for excellence – especially since the brushes aren’t made with animal hair. But although these brushes are made from synthetic bristles, they are really soft! The brush set contains a blush, eye shading, eyeliner, and concealer brush, and a lash and brow groomer. The brush handles are made from bamboo, a highly sustainable plant, and the metal parts are made from recycled aluminum cans. Although we were happy to buy from a brand that is cruelty free and environmentally conscious, the added bonus is that they make a truly quality product. We can’t wait to try their Earth-Friendly Travel Sample Set to see if their skincare is as nice as their makeup brushes, please leave a comment and let us know if you’ve tried it!
