Some of the greatest beauty companies are across the pond. TONY&GUY was established by two brothers who founded their own salon in 1963. Their salons are now franchised and you can buy their hair products. We tried their Nourish Shampoo and Conditioner for Damaged Hair. These products are supposed to penetrate the hair shaft to revitalize damaged hair. With consistent use we noticed last hair breakage. However, if your hair is very dry you may want something more emollient. Since dry and damaged are hair issues that go hand in hand, we would have liked to see more moisture. If you’re not into heavily fragranced products, you’ll appreciate the subtle scent of the shampoo and conditioner.
Tip: Is your hair really damaged? The best thing to do is to trim damaged strands. But if you’re not willing to cut, try giving your hair a heat break and only using hot tools a couple times a week. Braids, pony tails, ballerina buns, sponge rollers…the possibilities are endless for heat free styles!

Aveeno is a great brand for skin that is so itchy and dry that it doesn’t respond well to regular lotion. So it stands to reason that their shampoo would be great for hair that’s in bad shape as well. We tried AVEENO® NOURISH+ STRENGTHEN Shampoo, which has a wheat complex that works to fortify the hair. It claims to repair up to 90% of breakage in just 3 washes. This shampoo is great for dry hair. It doesn’t dry it out and leaves enough elasticity to comb without a lot of breakage. Volume wise, this shampoo falls somewhere in the middle. It doesn’t provide a lot of volume but it doesn’t really flatten your hair either. We think this is a great product for anyone who has abused their hair with heat, chemicals, or color treatment. It smells great too! If you have fine thin hair that’s not damaged, you probably won’t be happy with the volume.
Tip: If your hair is damaged, sleep on a satin pillowcase. This is also better for your skin. Cotton absorbs moisture and isn’t very kind to your hair.

Dyeing your hair red can be a real pain because it fades so rapidly. Christina Hendricks from Mad Men has to color her hair every other episode to maintain the vibrant shade! We tried Quantum Riveting Reds Color Replenishing Shampoo since it’s hair color friendly, and takes it a step further and actually deposits color. This shampoo also helps with frizz. This shampoo really does extend the life of your hair color. Your hair gets a bit more red with every use! It’s also gentle, so it doesn’t do anything dramatic for your hair texture. But you can make up for that by using a great conditioner.
Tip: For warm highlights, try using Marc Anthony Instant Highlighting Spray with this shampoo. Spray on your hair and flat iron for highlights, then when you shampoo use Riveting Reds. A very cost efficient way of getting amazing copper highlights!

If your hair is super dry or damaged you’ll love Fekkai’s Shea Butter Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner. We tried it and loved the scent! It also gave us the freedom to shampoo thoroughly without drying out our hair. And if you want to really do a deep conditioning, try the Fekkai Essential Shea Ultra Rich Mask. Try using it with a shower cap and sitting under the dryer for a very deep conditioning treatment. We also suggest these shea butter products for unruly hair – the rich formulas are very smoothing. These are great products for hair that needs repair, but if your main concern is volume you should look to other shampoos and conditioners in the Fekkai product line.
