Dr. LeWinn by Kinerase Under Eye Recovery

Monday, September 10th, 2012

Many eye creams are targeted to one issue or the other, but Dr. LeWinn by Kinerase Under Eye Recovery addresses puffines, wrinkles, and dark circles. There are many scientific sounding ingredients, but the important thing is that we found that it to be a really great eye cream. It’s non-greasy so you can wear it during the day under your makeup, and after a week of use you’ll notice the improvement in the skin around your eyes. It doesn’t completely get rid of dark circles but it does help. What we love the most is that this eye cream isn’t irritating to the eyes at all – the greatest eye treatment in the world is not worth it if it stings your eyes. Jane Iredale Balance Antioxidant Hydration Spray

Tuesday, July 10th, 2012

Some products are worth shopping for online. We purchased Jane Iredale Hydration Spray from http://www.dermstore.com/ and liked the product as well as our shopping experience. Not only was the shipping free, but we also got 2 free beauty products to try (a full sized lip balm and a travel anti-aging serum). Getting a gift with purchase every time you shop is ingenious! But back to the product itself, we purchased Jane Iredale’s Balance Antioxidant Hydrating Spray to get rid of summer greasiness without getting dry skin. This spray has seaweed (which helps regulate oil production), green tea, and calming ingredients that nourish the skin and neutralize free radicals. The spray feels incredibly refreshing and can be used to set mineral makeup. We loved the citrusy scent and while we felt that this spray conditioned on our skin, we were disappointed that it didn’t result in a dramatic reduction in oil. So if you have very acne prone or greasy skin, you may want to look for something stronger. On the other hand, we strongly recommend this if you have sensitive skin as it’s very calming and non-irritating. We tried using it under other brands of makeup, and found that you get a much better result by using it for its intended purpose – to set mineral makeup.

Lumene Vitamin C+ Pure Radiance Beauty Drops

Thursday, June 21st, 2012

Vitamin C is proven to be an effective ingredient for minimizing pores and reducing hyperpigmentation, but when it’s exposed to air it loses its effectiveness. Lumene has found a way to overcome this problem by putting daily doses in tiny capsules in jar. Not only do these ‘drops’ have a vitamin C, they also have moisturizing plant sterols and antioxidants. You get a 28 day supply, which is enough to see a huge difference. In terms of skin texture and even tone, this is the greatest product we’ve tried. If you put it on at night, you’ll see the difference in the morning. And although we loved the matte texture it gave our skin, we don’t recommend you wear this during the day. Vitamin C makes your skin more sensitive to sunlight, so putting it on at night is best. And you’ll also want to be sure to use a sunscreen. This product reminds us of Estee Lauder’s Idealist, which is one of their best sellers. Lumene suggests you use the product over the course of 28 days. However, we think it’s also a good idea to just use a capsule at night whenever you want your skin to look great the next day.

Tend Skin

Thursday, June 7th, 2012

With bikini season in full swing, we thought we’d give Tend Skin a try since it’s a solution that treats razor bumps on all parts of the body. s. The solution is said to lessen razor bump swelling, fight ingrown hairs and sooth razor burns, and can be used on any areas where irritation might occur. We liked the way it worked, and recommend the 2.5 oz.  refillable roll-on container in particular because it doses the solution for you, making it easier to apply and airport security friendly.  The only downside is that this solution is not easy to find at stores – it costs around $14 once you add shipping and handling.

Unilever Simple Hydrating Light Moisturizer

Thursday, May 31st, 2012

We’ve been seeing a lot of advertising for the new brand, Simple so we wanted to try it out. Simple is actually only new to the U.S. –it’s the #1 skincare range of products in the U.K. and has been there since 1960. Now Unilever owns the brand, which prides itself in being the first to create a cleansing product with no perfume or color. We tried their Hydrating Light Moisturizer, which has Pro-Vitamin B5, Vitamin E, and glycerin. Even better is what’s missing – perfumes, dyes, and irritants. At around $10, this may seem expensive for a product with just 2 vitamins. However, the bottle is generously sized and a little goes a long way. This was excellent for our sensitive skin and seemed to work better than our more expensive moisturizers as it reduced inflammation drastically (this makes your skin appear smoother). We were truly in love with the texture of our skin after using it, it just seemed healthier! And since this is their light moisturizer, it does well in the heat or with oily skin. If you are using a lot of products to reduce the appearance of pores or to get smoother skin, you may want to try this one. We also recommend this for people who are using harsh exfoliants at night; Simple Hydrating Light Moisturizer will give your skin a break during the day. We’re pretty excited about the Simple line and look forward to trying more of their products.
