Garnier Clean + Purifying Foam Cleanser
Wednesday, April 23rd, 2014
Combination skin is a weird thing to have – if you buy products for oily skin it will dry out face, but moisturizing products don’t take care of excess oil. We tried the Garnier Clean + Purifying Foam Cleanser, which is for combination skin, to see if it really did strike the balance. Instead of salicylic acid (which can be too harsh for everyday use for many), this cleanser uses foaming action to lift the oil and dirt out of your skin. The bottle itself is unique, instead of pumping the cleanser, you just squeeze the bottle to get the foam in your hand. You may think it’s annoying to use if you shake it as you’ll just get a little bit of liquid. The key with this is to just pick it up and squeeze with the bottle upright. It would be helpful if Garnier had made it clearer on the packaging. It’s one of those things that you’ll hate until you get the hang of it, and then you’ll think the packaging is ingenious.
Garnier Clean + Purfiying Foam Cleanser also has antioxidants, Grapefruit, and Pomegranate to nourish your skin. The cleanser is great for softening your skin. With long term use, we found it to be a little drying, but combination cleansers always err on one side. If your skin tends to be a little more dry, we would suggest using this cleanser in the morning only and using a very mild cleanser at night. We also found Clean + Purifying Cleanser to be non-irritating, so those with sensitive skin will probably like it too.

Olay Long Live Moisture Satin Finish Lotion
Saturday, July 13th, 2013
Even people with oily skin should wear lotion. However, many lotions are geared toward people with dry skin. Finally–Olay’s Long Live Moisture Satin Finish Lotion is perfect for oily or combination skin. It’s light-weight with a matte finish, so it’s especially great for hot or humid days. We loved this lotion’s pleasant scent and how quickly it absorbed in the skin. Also, Satin Finish Lotion seems to take away the need for a mattifier. The product’s packaging doesn’t carry on about the ingredients so we’re not sure what’s in it, we just know it works. Notably absent is an SPF or a list of antioxidants, but perhaps that’s what keeps the lotion so light.
Tip: It may be tempting to not wear lotion if you have oily skin, but keep in mind that oil is not the same thing as hydration, and your skin will produce more oil to compensate for the lack of moisture.

BareMinerals Naturally Luminous Daily Duo – Combination Skin
Monday, November 26th, 2012
Changing skincare brands can be quite a commitment since full size products can last for months. At Ulta, we found a 30 day supply of BareMinerals face wash and moisturizer. BareMinerals Naturally Luminous Daily Duo for combination skin contains their ActiveSoil Complex. The ActiveSoil Complex is actually extracted from real soil and contains minerals that benefit the skin. The cleanser also has fruit enzymes for thorough cleansing and exfoliation, avocado oil for hydration, and pomegranate for moisture balance. The moisturizer has anti-oxidants and plant ingredients that hydrate and protect the skin. We thought both products worked well. The Purifying Facial Cleanser is great at removing makeup and the Purely Nourishing Moisturizer has a neat, earthy scent. However, we don’t recommend this product for people with very sensitive skin.

Biore Combination Skin Balancing Cleanser
Friday, May 11th, 2012
If you have the conundrum of having both oily and dry skin, we are sure you’ll love Biore Combination Skin Balancing Cleanser. This product claims to remove all impurities while leaving 90% of skin’s natural moisture. We tried it and found that it really does work. It removes all of the makeup and dirt, but you don’t have the dry, tight skin that some cleansers leave behind. If you have oily skin you will probably like this as well, as even oily skin needs moisture, and will product more oil if dehydrated. We also discovered this cleanser works great with electric cleansers are silicone scrublets (such as the one that comes with L’Oreal’s 360° Cleansers). We’re not surprised that this is a great product though since their pore strips are an all time favorite.
