CoverGirl Clean Pressed Powder (Sensitive Skin)

Monday, August 30th, 2010

Our preferred method to use pressed powder is to take a large brush and use it to set foundation and combat greasy skin. CoverGirl’s Clean Pressed Powder for Sensitive Skin really did the job. We were shine free for the entire day, and it didn’t feel heavy at all. We chose the one for Sensitive Skin because it’s fragrance free – we figure the less ingredients to irritate our skin, the better! We also like that their website can help you choose your shade so you have a pretty good idea of what you need before you go to the store.

CoverGirl Continuous Color Lipstick

Friday, July 16th, 2010

Long wear lipsticks are traditionally drying, despite the fact that they all claim they are not. CoverGirl’s Continuous Color Lipstick lasts for hours, but it actually leaves your lips in better condition! We tried it for work and waited for the inevitable parched feeling but it never came – the lipstick lasted a full day at work. It’s no wonder; this lipstick is 50% moisturizers, including Vitamin E and Vitamin A. If you’re looking for a nice red matte lipstick, try their Really Red shade 575.

CoverGirl Exact Eyelights Eye-Brightening Shadow

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

If you have some extra time to play with different makeup looks, try CoverGirl Exact Eyelights Eye-Brightening Shadows. They have a collection of shadows for each eye color family – blues, greens, browns, and hazels. When we saw the palette for brown eyes, which includes gold, black, cream and silver, we though it would be a disaster. But when we followed the instructions, the colors actually did look very pretty together! We really liked the soft bristle brush that comes with the shadow, you get more professional looking results.

Tip: To stop your eye shadow from flaking on your cheeks when you apply it, reverse your makeup routine. Put your eyeshadow on first, then be sure to brush off misplaced eyeshadow before apply foundation and concealer.

Almay Intense I-Color Eyeliner

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

Makeup is so often about concealing and hiding, we appreciate Almay’s approach, which is to enhance what you already have. Their Intense I-Color Eyeliner collection is made to make the color of your eyes really stand out. There are four shades – royal slate for brown eyes, midnight black for brown eyes, deep jade for hazel eyes, and rich mocha for green eyes. Beyond the eye color enhancers, you may just want to try these because Almay simply makes good eyeliner. Their reputation for hypoallergenic makeup is certainly a plus when it comes to eyes! But what we really liked was the built in smudger at the end of the pencil, which is gives a soft and more professional look. This kohl eyeliner is also soft so you don’t have to worry about dragging delicate eyelid skin. The only bummer is that this eyeliner is not automatic, so you’ll have to get your sharpener out every now and then. Looking to save? Almay offers printable coupons on their site! Check out

CoverGirl Simply Ageless Foundation

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

eraseFor seriously aging or dry skin, we have found the real deal. CoverGirl Simply Ageless Foundation goes on smoothly just as all foundations do for dry skin. But the difference is that it doesn’t become trapped in lines, it stays suspended over your skin so your makeup looks like it’s just been applied all day. This foundation also contains a healthy dose of Olay Regenerist Serum and an SPF of 22, so the condition of your skin will improve as time goes on. We’re excited to know that we can get a product of this quality for aging skin without going to a department store.
