TONI&GUY Nourish Shampoo and Conditioner for Damaged Hair
Sunday, June 22nd, 2014
Some of the greatest beauty companies are across the pond. TONY&GUY was established by two brothers who founded their own salon in 1963. Their salons are now franchised and you can buy their hair products. We tried their Nourish Shampoo and Conditioner for Damaged Hair. These products are supposed to penetrate the hair shaft to revitalize damaged hair. With consistent use we noticed last hair breakage. However, if your hair is very dry you may want something more emollient. Since dry and damaged are hair issues that go hand in hand, we would have liked to see more moisture. If you’re not into heavily fragranced products, you’ll appreciate the subtle scent of the shampoo and conditioner.
Tip: Is your hair really damaged? The best thing to do is to trim damaged strands. But if you’re not willing to cut, try giving your hair a heat break and only using hot tools a couple times a week. Braids, pony tails, ballerina buns, sponge rollers…the possibilities are endless for heat free styles!

Hair color isn’t good for your hair, but most of us still do it anyway! Fekkai has a line of products, Technician Color Care, that helps you keep your hair color fresh as long as possible. A unique add is that the products provide UV protection. UV rays fade your hair color, and just as the sun is damaging to your skin it also works against healthy hair. We tried the shampoo, conditioner, and luxe color masque. Even if you don’t color your hair, if your hair is dry you’ll like this line. Since colored hair tends to be dry, the Technician Color Care products seem to have extra moisturizers and are not stripping at all. And for when you really abuse your hair, the luxe color masque gives an intense conditioning. So why not use the luxe color masque? It’s a very intense conditioner, so if you have fine hair it may weigh down your hair too much for frequent use. In general, we thought these products were very gentle and nourishing for color-treated hair. But they can’t stop fading completely. If you want to keep your hair looking salon fresh every week, we suggest supplementing products like Fekkai Technician Color Care with color rinses or glosses.

Tangle Teezer
Wednesday, October 30th, 2013
Have you ever heard of the Tangle Teezer? It’s been awhile since there has been a new type of brush, so we thought this new detangling hairbrush would be more of the same. How different can a brush be? However, after we tried it we saw that it actually is different from other hair brushes and combs. From what we can see, the biggest difference is that the bristles are narrower than what you would find on a paddle brush, and they are more flexible as well. So when you go to comb your hair this hairbrush works with your hair instead of against it. The downside is that you will have to do more passes on your hair to get really big tangles. Or you’ll have to comb your hair in smaller sections to ensure all the knots are being addressed. If you have hair that’s prone to tangles, this is definitely an easy fix. A bonus is that you won’t have to use a bunch of hair products to detangle your hair. We also recommend this for kids. This hairbrush is a product of Great Britain, but you can find it at beauty stores such as Ulta and Sally Beauty Supply.
Tip: A great way to prevent tangles is to always keep your hair freshly trimmed. Split ends make your hair more prone to knots.

Nuance Salma Hayek Texturizing Sea Salt Spray
Monday, September 30th, 2013
The texture of hair after a day at the beach is great, taking ocean water home with you in a spray bottle isn’t particularly appealing. Products like Nuance Salma Hayek Texturizing Sea Salt Spray are supposed to allow you to get beachy waves at any time. This spray has both seaweed and algae extracts and is not heavily fragranced. Thankfully, it doesn’t make your hair sticky it’s refreshing to use. You should also know that that it gives your hair a matte finish if you prefer glossy waves or curls.

Aveeno Pure Renewal Dry Shampoo
Sunday, April 28th, 2013
Dry Shampoo is a great way to freshen up hair and absorb extra oil. We tried Aveeno’s Pure Renewal Dry Shampoo and loved the clean scent. Seaweed Extract is what makes this dry shampoo different, and it helps with manageability. If you’re hair colored don’t worry, the formula is sulfate free. Pure Renewal Dry Shampoo is also supposed to remove excess oil to boost volume. However, we found it lacking in that area. We think the best use for this product is for giving texture and refreshing hair.
