L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Miracle Blur
Wednesday, May 21st, 2014
Wrinkles. Lines. Pores. L’Oreal Revitalift Miracle Blur promises to get rid of the appearance of them all at once. So what IS this product exactly? It’s many things at once. First it has an SPF of 30, which we love about this product. Especially considering that it’s unlikely that any of us are using the sun protection we’re supposed to! But also the texture fills in your pores and lines, and then it contains ingredients that reflect light to make a blurring effect. So at the end of the day, this is a primer with sunscreen. The consistency is like a gel and cream hybrid, and of course it has a pleasant scent. Since Miracle Blur provides a matte finish, one tester with oily skin really liked it. It provides an extra layer to ensure your makeup doesn’t dissipate from the oils of your skin. It gives a general improvement in the appearance of your skin, so if you don’t like wearing makeup or if you’re going to the gym and want something more than a bare face, Miracle Blur is great to use. Since this is yet another step in skincare (Miracle Blur should be applied after moisturizer), it may be a turnoff for those who don’t want to spend more time getting ready or who don’t want too many layers of product on their skin. Our suggestion? Use it for days where you’re not wearing makeup or when you really need your makeup to be perfect and last all day.

Tip: Have a problem with your makeup settling into wrinkles? Don’t bother with powder as that exacerbates the problem. Instead, use a primer, then a liquid foundation, and a makeup setting spray.

L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche® Nail
Thursday, February 6th, 2014
A lot of nail polishes claim to be long-wearing, so we were surprised when we tried L’Oreal’s Colour Riche Nail polish. It lasted twice as long as our other polishes. It also has a finish that has the same high gloss as a gel polish. Thank goodness for evolving technology because this was by far the highest quality nail polish that we’ve tried. One of our testers with thin nails didn’t quite get the whole 10 days, but still got way longer wear than usual. Our fave color is Orange You Jealous, which looks fresh and fashionable on its own without any embellishment.
Tip: To avoid an unprofessional looking manicure, start out on each nail with a broad stroke in the center, and then use the rest on the edges. That way overflow won’t go on your skin. Your cuticles will thank you!

Féria Wild Ombré
Wednesday, December 18th, 2013
Dyeing your hair at home is always a huge risk. We tried Féria Wild Ombré since the brush is supposed to make the process goof proof. The process is actually fairly simple. But what’s different from regular dye kits is that it contains a bleaching powder that you add to the bottle. Be careful, because even a small amount of this powder makes spots if it comes in contact with your clothes. The brush is really easy to use and naturally makes even stripes in your hair. If you want a more subtle highlighted look, you can just do one pass per section of hair. If you want it a more dramatic look, then use it to saturate your hair strands. You’ll want to make sure you use the brush either way to control the product. The end results are very pretty and surprisingly professional looking. However, even after leaving it on for the recommended maximum time on the box, the lightening was subtle. So you won’t quite get the dramatic look that’s on the box. We tried this with only 3 passes per section of hair with the brush, so perhaps if we saturated the strands more the Ombré would be more pronounced. The brush is amazing and would be perfect for adding lowlights or highlights with other kits, so make sure you keep it!

L’Oreal Youth Code Texture Perfector Serum Concentrate
Monday, September 9th, 2013
We have no idea what 2%LR2412 is, but we know that it’s the key ingredient in L’Oreal’s new Youth Code Texture Perfector, which improves skin texture, pores, and fine lines (not so much for deep wrinkles). We tried this product and thought it worked pretty well. And while we don’t think it’s ideal for very sensitive skin, it has some great features. You see results fairly quickly and it’s a great first step for flawless skin before moisturizer and foundation. If you have very dry skin, be sure to use a very emollient moisturizer over this serum.

L’Oreal Voluminous® Million Lashes Excess Mascara
Wednesday, July 10th, 2013
Volumizing mascara is typically synonymous with clumping mascara, so we were intrigued by L’Oreal’s Voluminous Million Lashes Excess Mascara since it claims to be clump free. It definitely volumizes lashes as promised, and…it didn’t clump. The secret seems to be the brush. We found that wiggling the wand at the base of the lashes for more impact didn’t work well with this mascara—it causes the lashes to stick together. You’ll get the best results by applying it in a traditional upward swipe. No need to do two coats of Voluminous Million Lashes Excess Mascara, just one is all you need!
