Favorites Friday! Sally Hansen Miracle Gel
Friday, September 12th, 2014
This week’s Favorites Friday feature is Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel nail polish. We’ve been wanting to try this for a while to see if it lives up to it’s “miracle” claims.
The product promises 14 days of color and shine with no light needed. Since the other gel kits with the LED light are a bit more of a procedure, the Miracle Gel is an enticing option. You can purchase the nail color and the top coat for around $10 each, or the duo pack for about $16 at your local drugstore.
After applying the color and top coat, we did notice more of a gel-like finish than most of our other “regular” nail polishes. The finish is a bit smoother as well. The two application steps were super easy, and the result flawless. Now, as the product promises up to 14 days of color and shine, let us admit that the glossy manicure did start to chip before the 14 days were up. It definitely lasts longer than the average polish, but there is an advantage to the longer lasting gel that requires the light.
Overall, a great product for the low price point compared to an gel kit with an LED, and much less of a hassle. Check out our Facebook page to leave your own review!

L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche® Nail
Thursday, February 6th, 2014
A lot of nail polishes claim to be long-wearing, so we were surprised when we tried L’Oreal’s Colour Riche Nail polish. It lasted twice as long as our other polishes. It also has a finish that has the same high gloss as a gel polish. Thank goodness for evolving technology because this was by far the highest quality nail polish that we’ve tried. One of our testers with thin nails didn’t quite get the whole 10 days, but still got way longer wear than usual. Our fave color is Orange You Jealous, which looks fresh and fashionable on its own without any embellishment.
Tip: To avoid an unprofessional looking manicure, start out on each nail with a broad stroke in the center, and then use the rest on the edges. That way overflow won’t go on your skin. Your cuticles will thank you!

Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover
Saturday, January 5th, 2013
One of the keys to giving yourself a professional looking manicure is taking care of your cuticles. We tried Sally Hansen’s Instant Cuticle Remover and found it to be pretty effective. It’s said to remove cuticles in 15 seconds and contains chamomile and aloe to soothe the skin. It did the job and didn’t leave our skin peeling like some overly aggressive cuticle removers can. You also get a generous amount in the bottle so it will last for months. The directions say to use with a cuticle pusher, but we found that to get results like the pros it’s best to use with a cuticle remover tool (just be careful!)

Kiss Everlasting French Better than Salon Nails
Monday, June 13th, 2011
While press on nails are never going to stick to nails the way acrylics do, Kiss has certainly come close. We tried their Everlasting French Better Than Salon nail kit and were really impressed by the quality. It really looked like a salon job, replete with fun designs on each nail. This product claims to last for seven days and we got 8 days of wear with only one nail coming off. Fortunately, they give 28 nails in each kit so we easily replaced the nail. This is a great product for special occasions. Going to the salon to get fills for acrylic nails on a consistent basis can get expensive and time consuming. Just putting on the Kiss nails seems more practical. The downside is if you keep the nails on for longer than 7 days they don’t look as great as when you first apply them.
