Max Factor Vivid Impact Highlighting Mascara

Monday, March 28th, 2011

The formulas for mascaras are always changing but the available colors remain the same. For a different look, Max Factor’s Vivid Impact Highlighting Mascara in shade 901 has a basic black coat, and then a pink shade to go on the top. The color is a lot more subtle than it looks in the tube, but it’s still a fun to have some pink on your lashes. What we liked the most about this formula is that it easily washed off at night so there weren’t any remnants of pink and black in the morning! You can’t buy Max Factor’s in stores in the United States, but you can buy the shade we tried at Amazon.com.

Max Factor

Friday, February 12th, 2010

eraseThe brand Max Factor was started by a makeup artist for the Russian ballet, Francis Maximilian Faktorowicz  in 1909. His son, Max Factor Jr. continued the company and popularized the terms ‘lipstick’ and ‘eyeshadow’, invented the term ‘make-up’, and helped create the first major international cosmetic business. Max’s Factor’s success came from his work on Hollywood movie sets where he worked with start such as Lana Turner, Rita Hayworth, and Marlene Dietrich. In 1928, he actually received an Oscar for making creating cosmetics that worked well with black aerase 2nd white movies. Some of Max Factor’s other innovative contributions to the industry included lip gloss in 1930, Pan-Cake Makeup in 1937, the first smear proof lipstick in 1940, and the first waterproof cosmetic in 1971. Max Factor didn’t retire until 1973 and his legacy still lives on. Max Factor developed a line of cosmetics just for color television’s needs that is still the standard for TV cosmetics today. His company was sold the year of his retirement and is currently owned by Procter and Gamble. Starting this year, Max Factor cosmetics are unavailable in the United States due to dwindling sales but are widely successful ($1.2 billion in annual sales) in other parts of the world.

Max Factor Vivid Impact Eyeshadow Duos

Friday, December 11th, 2009

eraseWe love when packaging makes makeup easy to apply. Max Factor Vivid Impact Eyeshadow Duos allow you to use really intense eyeshadows without having to worry about mistakes. The dual sided eyeshadow tube gives you the perfect amount on the applicator every time so there is no mess. It’s no surprise that it’s the 2009 winner of the Life & Style Best of Beauty Award and the Star Superstar Beauty Award. This shadow is also easy to blend and layer; our favorite shade was 180 Emerald Coast. Stock up now, Max Factor products will not be sold in the United States anymore starting next year!

Max Factor MAXeye Liner

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

erase

Max Factor (Maximilian Faktorowicz) was one of the first movie set makeup artists in the 1920’s, and created a line of cosmetics that has flourished for over 100 years. However, MaxFactor will no longer be on U.S. store shelves starting January 2010.
To avoid the shipping costs of buying Max Factor from overseas, you should stock up now. One of our favorite must haves from Max Factor is the MAXeye Liner in shade 100 Night Club. No smoky eye is complete without a dark eyeliner, and with this one you get a true black with one stroke. This pigment rich eyeliner is also self sharpening; you don’t have to lug a sharpener around in your makeup bag. We will miss seeing Max Factor in stores in the U.S., but fortunately, it’s a top seller in countries such as the United Kingdom and Russia.
