L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche® Nail
Thursday, February 6th, 2014
A lot of nail polishes claim to be long-wearing, so we were surprised when we tried L’Oreal’s Colour Riche Nail polish. It lasted twice as long as our other polishes. It also has a finish that has the same high gloss as a gel polish. Thank goodness for evolving technology because this was by far the highest quality nail polish that we’ve tried. One of our testers with thin nails didn’t quite get the whole 10 days, but still got way longer wear than usual. Our fave color is Orange You Jealous, which looks fresh and fashionable on its own without any embellishment.
Tip: To avoid an unprofessional looking manicure, start out on each nail with a broad stroke in the center, and then use the rest on the edges. That way overflow won’t go on your skin. Your cuticles will thank you!

Sally Hansen Miracle Nail Thickener
Wednesday, July 31st, 2013
If you have soft or thin nails, it can be difficult to wear even fake nails, let alone just polish. Sally Hansen’s Miracle Nail Thickener is said to give 70% thicker nails in 4 days. With Calcium and ceramic gel, this builds up your nails so they aren’t so fragile. We liked the polish and it gave a strengthening effect instantly. However, our favorite nail strengthener is still Sally Hansen’s Double Duty Strengthening Base & Top Coat. It’s less expensive than the Miracle Nail Thicker, but we find that it gives better results!
Tip: Just being careful while washing dishes is not enough. Immersing your nails in water weakens them. Keep a couple of pairs of latex gloves under your sinks so when you’re cleaning or washing dishes, you can protect your nails.

Wednesday, December 21st, 2011
Essie is known for high quality nail polish. This week, we are giving away two bottles – Mademoiselle and Ballet Slippers. To enter to win these great pink shades just comment below with your best nail tip. Here’s ours:
If your nails are brittle then be sure to file them in one direction. Thin or brittle nails don’t do very well with the back and forth motion of filing (which weakens nails further).
One winner will be chosen by 12/28/2011 and notified by email 1/04/2012. U.S. residents only. Odds of winning are 1 out of number of comments on this blog post.

Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat
Monday, August 8th, 2011
If you like O.P.I’s shatter, you’ll really like Sally Hansen’s Crackle Overcoat as well. It’s less expensive, and it comes in 8 shades. The crackle overcoat is a nail polish that separates upon application, revealing the shade of nail polish you put underneath. Our favorite combination was the black crackle over white nail polish. You only need one coat of Crackle, and it dries in 60 seconds. We also used Crackle with Sally Hansen’s Double Duty Strengthening Base & Top Coat, it made our manicure last forever! Every nail will have its own unique mosaic pattern. To see what Crackle looks like watch the video here.
