B’iota Botanicals Herbal Shampoo for Thinning Hair for Normal Dry/Hair
Monday, May 19th, 2014
With the prevalence of celebrities with extensions, it’s easy to feel like your hair is too thin. B’iota Botanicals is a European brand that creates plant-based beauty products. Their BIOXSINE Series Herbal Shampoos for Thinning Hair is supposed to give stronger, thicker, fuller looking hair. The first thing we noticed about the shampoo is that it has a fairly pleasant scent. We’ve tried other products for thinning hair and although effective, the scents can be medicinal. This shampoo gives your hair a healthy, volumized look. However, if your hair tends to be on the oily side, you should know that this isn’t one of those shampoos that volumize by stripping your hair. This shampoo is best for someone who is looking for both moisture and volume. If your hair is on the frizzy side, don’t be afraid to use this shampoo. For our testers with frizzy hair, they found that by using their usual anti-frizz products after shampooing they could have the best of both worlds – thick and smooth hair. The one drawback? In terms of detangling, B’iota Botanicals Herbal Shampoo for Thinning Hair doesn’t do much.
Tip: Trying to get thicker hair with no results? Hair dye in darker colors coats your strands, giving an overall fuller look. Darker shades of brown really help. Also doing a color glaze or rinse on a regular basis will keep your hair infused with color.

Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Eye Cream & Lash Serum Duo
Sunday, May 18th, 2014
If you’re really into taking care of your eye area, you may be interested in Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Eye Cream & Lash Serum Duo, which helps your eyes look younger and brighter in just one week. We tried the duo, and admittedly it’s not a huge time saver as there are two steps. The eye cream packaging is great. Instead of a pot that is prone to contamination by continually dipping your fingers, it’s a small tube that allows you to ration out a perfect amount. The consistency is not as thick as we thought it would be since it’s a cream. However, it’s a very powerful moisturizer and plays nicely with makeup. It contains the Olay Advanced Amino-peptide Complex + hydra firming complex which is supposed to penetrate deeply into the skin surface and the eye area. The lash serum is fun to use because it separates and coats your eye lashes, so you may be tempted to go without mascara. The serum didn’t help with growth but definitely made the most of existing lashes. The glycerin formula is basically a lash conditioner. All in all, if you have the time, this product is a good step toward beautiful eyes.

100% Pure Pigmented Mascara
Monday, March 17th, 2014
Looking for a vegan cosmetics company? Check out 100% Pure, a relatively new company that makes vegan cosmetics, skin care, and hair products. And of course, there is no animal testing. We tried their 100% Pure Pigmented Mascara, which conditions and tints your lashes with real berry pigments and black tea. This mascara gives a really natural finish with absolutely no clumps at all. Its strength isn’t really with thickening your lashes, but you get decent lengthening. Here’s what’s interesting: you may not have realized how irritating your mascara is on your eyes until you try this product. It’s great for sensitive eyes and washes away easily with soap and water. In sum, 100% Pure Pigmented Mascara is perfect for everyday, but you’ll want more if you like drama. But after trying such an excellent product that is without chemicals, animal products, or animal testing, we wonder why all cosmetics companies don’t follow suit. Hopefully products like 100% Pure’s will become the norm instead of the exception.

Neutrogena Rapid Tone Repair Night Moisturizer
Tuesday, February 18th, 2014
In the past there was an emphasis on treating wrinkles and fine lines. Now the emphasis is more so on evening skin tone. One of the many products that promises to do just that is the Neutrogena Rapid Tone Repair Night Moisturizer. It has proven ingredients such as Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid, and Retinol. But the glucose complex is what makes Rapid Tone Repair Moisturizer different. The glucose complex actually gives a boost to the retinol. According to the box results appear in one week. We did notice more clarity and even tone in one week. However, for very dark spots this product needs a few weeks, and the results are more of a slow evolution. In general, for a non-prescription product it’s pretty good. Although this product is supposed to be gentle enough for daily use, one of our testers with sensitive skin found it to be a little drying and irritating. As with any retinol product, those with sensitive skin can benefit from gradually introducing the product to the skin instead of suddenly using it daily. We also found that Neutrogena Rapid Tone Repair Moisturizer pairs really nicely with other moisturizers. You get the refined pores and improved complexion but not the dryness.
Tip: Hyperpigmentation is commonly caused by sun damage, and products like these can make your skin more vulnerable. Protect your results and prevent more damage by wearing sunscreen if you’re not already while treating your skin.

Benefit Ultra Plush Lip Gloss
Wednesday, February 12th, 2014
The look of lip gloss is pretty much the same regardless of the brand. Where you really feel the difference is the feel of the lip gloss and how long it lasts. At $16, Benefit Ultra Plush Lip Gloss is a bit more expensive than drug store brands. However, it goes on nicely and isn’t annoyingly sticky. We tried the Sugarbomb shade, which we imagine would be flattering on most skin tones.
Tip: Instead of reapplying lipstick, just put on lipstick in the morning and then add lip gloss throughout the day as needed. The lipstick will give you a great base of color to start with, and you won’t get a cakey look from a bunch of touch ups.
