Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color

Thursday, November 21st, 2013

erase4Finally cool nail art that will work for the impatient and manicure skill challenged. Sally Hansen’s Magnetic Nail Color doesn’t require any design work at all. And it’s actually easier to use than stickers since you just brush the polish on. When you hover the magnet (included) over your polished nail, you get a really cool wavy pattern.

Tip: Put a very thin coat on first, then the 2nd coat has to be thick as the directions specify. If you don’t, the magnetic pattern won’t be as pronounced or won’t turn up at all.

CoverGirl + Olay Concealer Balm

Tuesday, November 19th, 2013

eraseThe more blendable a concealer, the better. We tried CoverGirl’s concealer which contains a hydrating Olay serum. It goes on very smoothly, no dragging. It’s especially great for the eye area and has the opacity needed to cover dark circles. And since it has the Olay serum, you don’t have to worry about it settling into fine lines and wrinkles. In general, we thought it was a great buy.

Tip: Put concealer on underneath your foundation. That way you’ll have a more blended look.

One ‘n Only Brazilian Tech Treatment with Pequi Oil

Monday, November 11th, 2013

laA lot hair of products seem to have keratin now. We tried One ‘n Only Brazilian Tech Treatment with Pequi Oil. This contains keratin and pequi oil to eliminate frizz and condition hair. It’s a clear serum and you can smooth it on your hair before styling. We thought this product was amazing for softening and conditioning the hair. However, it has a pretty greasy texture so use it sparingly. Since it’s pretty heavy, we don’t recommend this for fine hair or if you have springy curls that get weighed down easily.

Tip: Frizzy hair? Do your best to not touch your hair throughout the day. The oils from your fingers only make matters worse.

Quantum Riveting Reds Color Replenishing Shampoo

Thursday, October 24th, 2013

erase3Dyeing your hair red can be a real pain because it fades so rapidly. Christina Hendricks from Mad Men has to color her hair every other episode to maintain the vibrant shade! We tried Quantum Riveting Reds Color Replenishing Shampoo since it’s hair color friendly, and takes it a step further and actually deposits color. This shampoo also helps with frizz. This shampoo really does extend the life of your hair color. Your hair gets a bit more red with every use! It’s also gentle, so it doesn’t do anything dramatic for your hair texture. But you can make up for that by using a great conditioner.

Tip: For warm highlights, try using Marc Anthony Instant Highlighting Spray with this shampoo. Spray on your hair and flat iron for highlights, then when you shampoo use Riveting Reds. A very cost efficient way of getting amazing copper highlights!

Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer

Sunday, October 6th, 2013

erase3If you’re into a true lipstick with high pigment and full coverage, then Rimmel’s new Apocalips Lip Lacquer will be your dream come true. The ads say it has the rich color of a lipstick enhanced by shine, which made us think it was more of a gloss/lipstick hybrid. But when you actually wear it, you’ll find that Apocalips Lip Lacquer really doesn’t fall into either category. It goes on as a very thin layer, however what makes it different is that the layer goes on as an intense full coverage lipstick. It has a bit of shine, but no more than a regular lipstick. It also doesn’t have the stickiness of a gloss. This product is fairly long wearing, but be prepared to see it on your drink glasses (it’s not a non-transferable lip product). All in all, we loved this product, but wouldn’t recommend it for everyone who isn’t truly into lip color.

Tip: Wear their intense pink shade, Apocaliptic the same way you would wear an intense red – keep the eyes and check color subtle.
