Favorites Friday! Sally Hansen Miracle Gel

Friday, September 12th, 2014

Sallly-MiracleThis week’s Favorites Friday feature is Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel nail polish. We’ve been wanting to try this for a while to see if it lives up to it’s “miracle” claims.

The product promises 14 days of color and shine with no light needed. Since the other gel kits with the LED light are a bit more of a procedure, the Miracle Gel is an enticing option. You can purchase the nail color and the top coat for around $10 each, or the duo pack for about $16 at your local drugstore.

After applying the color and top coat, we did notice more of a gel-like finish than most of our other “regular” nail polishes. The finish is a bit smoother as well. The two application steps were super easy, and the result flawless. Now, as the product promises up to 14 days of color and shine, let us admit that the glossy manicure did start to chip before the 14 days were up. It definitely lasts longer than the average polish, but there is an advantage to the longer lasting gel that requires the light.

Overall, a great product for the low price point compared to an gel kit with an LED, and much less of a hassle. Check out our Facebook page to leave your own review!

Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color

Thursday, November 21st, 2013

erase4Finally cool nail art that will work for the impatient and manicure skill challenged. Sally Hansen’s Magnetic Nail Color doesn’t require any design work at all. And it’s actually easier to use than stickers since you just brush the polish on. When you hover the magnet (included) over your polished nail, you get a really cool wavy pattern.

Tip: Put a very thin coat on first, then the 2nd coat has to be thick as the directions specify. If you don’t, the magnetic pattern won’t be as pronounced or won’t turn up at all.

Sally Hansen Miracle Nail Thickener

Wednesday, July 31st, 2013

eraseIf you have soft or thin nails, it can be difficult to wear even fake nails, let alone just polish. Sally Hansen’s Miracle Nail Thickener is said to give 70% thicker nails in 4 days. With Calcium and ceramic gel, this builds up your nails so they aren’t so fragile. We liked the polish and it gave a strengthening effect instantly. However, our favorite nail strengthener is still Sally Hansen’s Double Duty Strengthening Base & Top Coat. It’s less expensive than the Miracle Nail Thicker, but we find that it gives better results!

Tip: Just being careful while washing dishes is not enough. Immersing your nails in water weakens them. Keep a couple of pairs of latex gloves under your sinks so when you’re cleaning or washing dishes, you can protect your nails.

Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover

Saturday, January 5th, 2013

One of the keys to giving yourself a professional looking manicure is taking care of your cuticles. We tried Sally Hansen’s Instant Cuticle Remover and found it to be pretty effective. It’s said to remove cuticles in 15 seconds and contains chamomile and aloe to soothe the skin. It did the job and didn’t leave our skin peeling like some overly aggressive cuticle removers can. You also get a generous amount in the bottle so it will last for months. The directions say to use with a cuticle pusher, but we found that to get results like the pros it’s best to use with a cuticle remover tool (just be careful!)

Sally Hansen Moisturizing Foot Crème

Tuesday, September 25th, 2012

Did you know that your feet have very few oil glands compared to the rest of your body?  It’s no wonder then that the lotion that you use for the rest of your body may not be enough to keep your feet hydrated. We tried Sally Hansen’s Moisturizing Foot Crème and loved the formula. A welcome surprise considering Sally Hansen is not necessarily known for their skincare. It’s thick and can moisturize even the driest feet. But it doesn’t make your feet so greasy that they slip around in your shoes. Our favorite thing about this Crème is that it contains anti-fungal tea tree oil – a must for a healthy pedicure.
