Sibu Beauty Sea Buckthorn Balancing Facial Cleanser

Tuesday, February 12th, 2013

erase3We hadn’t heard of sea buckthorn until we came across the Sibu Beauty brand. Apparently sea buckthorn is an ancient berry that has been used for more than 28 centuries to treat damaged skin, heal wounds, and provide nutrition. Found in the Himalayas, sea buckthorn contains many of the ingredients that you would look for in a skin treatment – Vitamins A, C, E, K, minerals, carotenoids, flavonoids, antioxidants, and omega fatty acids. We tried Sibu Beauty’s Sea Buckthorn Balancing Facial Cleanser, which contains micro-particles for gentle exfoliation and contains 100% natural ingredients. We really liked the exfoliating beads in this cleanser; they’re gentle enough that you can use the cleanser every day. Since this is a gel cleanser, this may not be for you if you have extremely dry skin. However, we think it’s the perfect cleanser for normal to very oily skin. It’s especially unique because it’s anti-bacterial without having harsh chemicals. So if you have acne and very sensitive skin Sea Buckthorn Balancing Facial Cleanser will give you the oil and bacteria removal you need without the irritation. We really loved how this cleanser is clean-rinsing and removes makeup nicely without leaving a trace of residue behind.

Spa Sonic Skin Care System

Tuesday, February 5th, 2013

eraseIt’s hard not to want the Clarisonic Cleansing System since it thoroughly cleanses and rejuvenates skin, and helps any skin care product penetrate more, and hence become more effective. However, at almost $200 it’s not very budget friendly. We tried Olay Pro-X Cleansing System and were pleased with the results, but the closest we found was the Spa Sonic Skin Care System. Priced at around $60, this waterproof system includes 2 facial brushes, 1 large body brush, 1 facial buffer, 1 pumice stone, and batteries (isn’t great when companies include the batteries?). We liked that the facial brushes were gentle on the skin as promised and the large body brush felt great. We were surprised at how effective the pumice stone worked. The pumice stone doesn’t feel very abrasive at all, but when combined with the polishing unit it really exfoliated! If you’re really your moisturizer, you’ll probably also like the facial buffer, which is a sponge that uses the sonic power for better application. The Spa Sonic Skin Care System did everything that the Clarisonic says it will, but at a much more reasonable price. If you’re looking to try it, Spa Sonic has informed us that tomorrow, the Spa Sonic System will be on a special sale for just $33 on Target.com.

Dr. LeWinn by Kinerase Lift & Resculpt Serum XK

Saturday, January 26th, 2013

eraseMany articles about effective anti-age ingredients agree that hyaluronic acid is on the top of the list. So we tried Dr. LeWinn by Kinerase Lift & Resculpt Serum XK, which has hyaluronic acid as the chief ingredient as well as other ingredients like kinetin to stimulate collagen. This product claims to give a more defined jawline, improve contours, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. What we loved the most about this product is that it’s non-irritating, which is hard to find in strong anti-age treatments. We thought that this serum worked as promised, with the exception of giving a more defined jawline. We didn’t see much improvement in that area.

Olay Total Effects 7 Wet Cloths Cleanser

Monday, January 14th, 2013

We tried Olay’s Total Effects 7 Wet Cloths Cleanser since it promised to not only remove makeup, but also fight 7 signs of aging. Like Olay 2-in-1 Daily Facial Cloths, we thought that these cloths worked wonderfully to remove makeup, but it does sting if you get the cleanser in your eyes. We thought that these cloths were great for our skin’s texture as well.

Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer with Sunscreen – Normal Skin

Monday, December 3rd, 2012

Olay has been known for their moisturizers for quite some time. We tried their All Day Moisturizer with Sunscreen for normal skin, which has vitamins E, B3, & C. Although this formula was for normal skin, we thought it was moisturizing enough to get away with for dry skin as well. We really loved what it did for the texture of our skin, and it’s always nice to have sunscreen and moisturizer in one step. We all know that we’re supposed to put sunscreen on by itself, but how many of us really do it? At least with Olay you have a little protection. Although this product works wonderfully for normal and dry skin types, we found that for acne prone skin, it can cause break outs.
