100% Pure Pigmented Mascara
Monday, March 17th, 2014
Looking for a vegan cosmetics company? Check out 100% Pure, a relatively new company that makes vegan cosmetics, skin care, and hair products. And of course, there is no animal testing. We tried their 100% Pure Pigmented Mascara, which conditions and tints your lashes with real berry pigments and black tea. This mascara gives a really natural finish with absolutely no clumps at all. Its strength isn’t really with thickening your lashes, but you get decent lengthening. Here’s what’s interesting: you may not have realized how irritating your mascara is on your eyes until you try this product. It’s great for sensitive eyes and washes away easily with soap and water. In sum, 100% Pure Pigmented Mascara is perfect for everyday, but you’ll want more if you like drama. But after trying such an excellent product that is without chemicals, animal products, or animal testing, we wonder why all cosmetics companies don’t follow suit. Hopefully products like 100% Pure’s will become the norm instead of the exception.

My Konjac Sponge All Natural Fiber Bamboo Charcoal Facial Sponge
Saturday, February 8th, 2014
It’s not often that there are big innovations in facial cleansers. However, recently there has been a new fad with cleansing sponges made 100% pure Konjac plant root. There are plenty of brands that sell them. We tried the All Natural Fiber Bamboo Charcoal Facial Sponge by My Konjac Sponge. It also has added natural bamboo charcoal, which contains activated carbon, minerals, and anti-oxidants which combat acne-causing bacteria. Environmentalists will love that since this sponge is made of plant root, it’s 100% biodegradable. The coolest thing about this sponge is its texture. It almost feels like jell-o to the touch. Since hospitals use charcoal to draw toxins from your stomach from poisoning, it stands to reason that charcoal would be great at drawing impurities from the skin. We found that this sponge gives a great clean, and with continued use you see a reduction in blemishes in about four days. The interesting thing about the Konjac sponge is that you can use it with or without cleanser. One tester with acne found that the sponge is good for a few weeks without cleanser, but then blemishes started returning. After using cleanser on the sponge, it became effective again. Another tester with sensitive combination skin found the sponge to be perfectly gentle on the skin and a very effective cleanser but too drying to use twice a day. Once was enough. There is also no expiration date on these sponges or recommended time to use before you purchase another one. So far, we know that the sponge is good for at least a few months and counting.
Tip: Just like anything else you put on your skin, this sponge must be kept dry in between washings to keep it fresh and germ free.
